I’m seeing some on this new car, and a few LD2s with the front shocks behind the tower. What’s the reasoning for this, and what is changed on the car to achieve it?

I think it is to move the weight more into the centre of the car, when I looked at one it was just a spacer to move the tower forward.

The shocks stay in the same place.
There is more compliance in the mounts which makes the car more forgiving an easier to drive .

Further on Cruise’ post - Schumacher sells a kit of graphite plates that you can install on your LD2 that will move the shock tower forward and allow the shock to be repositioned behind the tower. I have been running it for about 3 months using my own bits and later adopted the Schumacher kit. It is a great solution for protecting the shocks/carpet but has also seemed to smooth out the car. There is a combined element of aero effect of the new position of the tower which eliminates my need to have run a front wing in the past.

Is there any speculation on release date of the LD3?

I really want to have the "Slipper Delete Kit" on my LD2 for stock racing. But it appears that that kit U7676 is not available anymore. Can anyone confirm my thoughts that buying these parts from LD3 stock spec catalog should fit on my LD2:
U8579
U8580

U8581
and a normal M4 locker nut.

EDIT: Got a tip from LD3 thread that U8582 is what I need.

Hi all,

I’m currently running a 17.5 LD2 with aluminum chassis on gray carpet, does anyone know if there’s a difference using the CF chassis instead? Any ever try both? Thanks

I have an aluminum chassis ld1 and the ss ld3. Biggest difference besides the huge weight savings, is that it flys in the air more neutral. The aluminum always wanted to land slightly nose down, not a bad thing. The CF chassis flys more “natural” and needs a little more input to pitch the noise up or down. Both have that sucked into the ground feel, but the CF has a little more flex, I feel, helps take corners a little better. The CF chassis compared to aluminum is almost 100 grams lighter. You will need some brass or heavier parts to make a legal limit. My ld1 with slipper weights were about 1525. The ld3 was 1450. I had to get a battery brass plate and that’s already added to the brass radio tray and under the servo brass plate.

Where can I find machined pistons for the LD3?

That was very helpful, based on your comments I will try the CF chassis. Thanks!
