Is anyone still driving the LD2?

I will be picking up a new 2wd kit soon, and my shop supports Schu and AE. Trying to decided between them, but figure for my skills (low) it probably won't matter which I pick. Leaning towards the Schu just because I lusted hard for a Top Cat back XX years ago as a teen, but never got one... Bad logic, but... LOL Also my buddy just got a LD2, so If I run one, we can share tuning tips... But AE just dropped the 6.4, so "New hotness" has an appeal too.

Either brand, I will be looking at a stock spec car, 21.5 class, small carpet track. The LHS guy says to get the LD2 because it is a lot lighter, which will help in a 21.5 class - but then I will need to add weights to get it up to minimum weight, so does that really matter?

Thoughts or advice? Any good reason to get one over the other?

I really like my LD2, I find the car easy to drive and super stable , the drivetrain is much smoother than the AE car and the plastic quality seems better

the only gripe i have is the arms tend to break a little easier than other brands in bad crashes

I haven’t broken any LD2 parts. I have popped shock caps off the goofy ball cup design.

I also haven’t broken any parts on my 6.3. Ran them both at the same tracks for about the same time (8 months). I do crash my fair amount.

I feel my LD2SS is better suited for Astro and B6.3 was better on black carpet.

I ran the LD1 on dirt and it was just as good as anything else. Just bought the ball diff and lighter springs.

Well done. What benefits have you had from turning the shocks on the 4wd? and how did you do at the front since the shock absorber caps cannot be mounted in the arms

ChadoSan and also whatever gains you got from mounting the shocks upside down, how come not do it in the 2wd as well? Many many years ago, this was done to help lower the CG of the car. But with air going up to the top of the shock (if the shock was right side up, the bubbles/air go to the top and the piston still has fluid to push against), the damping became inconsistent.

What is the benefit of running the front arms backwards? I’ve seen a few setups suggesting it. What is the benefit?

Changes the front wheelbase, switching them moves the hub carrier rearward 1.5mm. This gives more traction at the expense of stability in rougher sections.
