*B74.1 Tuning Parts Guide*
Hi all, with the B74.1 now available and with many important detailed changes to key tuning parts, I have put together a quick reference guide to allow you to compare B74 and B74.1 settings. I have included the typical outdoor settings we use but the changes translate across all surfaces.

Any questions, please ask away

What would be the difference in handling of adjusting front kick up at the pills vs changing the caster blocks?

Maybe someone will have a more "real world" idea, but technically speaking aren't both part of total "caster" ? If so wouldn't standard rules for caster apply?

I would guess at Larrys, because its not a particular bumpy track, less would be better.

They combine to give "total castor" but each component has different things to offer hence why sometimes you see setups with the same total castor but achieved in different ways.

Kick-up...

More kick-up will give more fore-aft weight transfer under acceleration so is best suited to lower grip surfaces and is also better on very bumpy tracks.
Less kick up-will help keep the car more level and give a more 'drive from the front' feeling, best suited so smooth high bite tracks.

Castor at the hub ...

More castor at the hub = smoother steering on corner entry and more mid-exit grip (so will hold a tighter line)
Less castor at the hub = more aggressive initial steering with less mid-exit steering

I can only assume it is to do with the style of US tracks that AE has always said that less (total) castor is more overall steering which is absolutely not true .... yes it will turn in more aggressively which you'd notice on 180s and very sharp 90s but on flowing tracks where corner speed is king (rest of the world outside USA) it is more about the mid-exit and carrying speed onto the next straight.

What's the downside of more kick-up? Less on-power steering since weight is going rearward?

Exactly.

Also more forward weight transfer under braking which can cause the 3 wheeling (what we call GTi-ing in Europe)

Forgive me if I've missed this. First time at the track today since COVID. Some of the other B74 guys had a heavier duty looking front bumper. Said it was the new stock bumper for the B74.1, but I can't find a part number or reference to it anywhere?

What tires do you guys run on clay? I see proline prime for rears but not for the fronts.

Prolines clay compound is ok, but AKAs (clay) or Jcons (silver) is faster.

I mostly run at tracks that are almost always slicks so thats what I run. If not I usually run Aka Scribbles, they make a lot of grip and last decently well. The Aka 2.2 slicks are awesome, very durable and stand up well in high grip conditions.

I apologize if this has been answered before. But from the research I have been able to do, It appears that the only difference between the B74.1 and B74.1D kits are the slipper verses the diff. Is this true?

If running high grip clay, for slicks youll want proline positron / electron S3 compount tires. for JC slicks do the elispse in silver. AKA doesnt make a soft enough compount to compete with these two when the grip goes wild.

For looser days on clay the proline MC compound is handsdown the best.

SSLW is great, I was running them last night at practice when others were on SLW rawspeed/S3 prolines. And I had the fastest lap by 4 tenths and the most of other guys are at my skill level.

'fraid not. We race again at the end of the month. None of us are big time factory pros, so I doubt it's anything secret. I know folks were running the xray bumpers for a bit but I think he would have said if that's what this was.

In the meantime I've managed to print one in polycarbonate that hopefully holds up better than my previous attempts in PLA.
