Pimpin My Ride(what's on the inside?)
I'm a beginner in the hobby. I'm still in the process of picking out my first toy but I have it down to my top 3 choices: Traxxas Maxx/XMaxx or Arram Kraton s8.
My questions are about the guts of the RC. No matter what RC i decide on i know I'm going to Pimp My Ride. I was hoping someone could give me a quick rundown/explanation of certain parts of the insides. Mainly what to look for in the stats. My brain just goes to bigger is better hahaha.
Batteries: I see there is s4, s6, and s8....what do these mean and what is best?
Servo: I know this is for steering...but what do the numbers on the box mean? What am I looking for?
Motor: Is bigger better or is there "to much"? How do I decide on which to pick?
ECU?(I think its called): The part that connects to the battery. What does this do and what am I looking for to choose the best option for me?
I think that's all the questions I have at the moment. I'm sure I'll have questions regarding hearing and if that is necessary to change as well as some point.
I'm guessing I'm going to have questions like "well what do you plan to do with your RC?"
Answer is I want to be prepared for anything. Rocks, dirt road, sand dunes, mud bog, jumping, pavement. If there are any more questions please ask and I'll answer my best. Thanks everyone for explaining this stuff to a newbie 😃😃

The 3 choices you have listed already come with the electronics you need, they are RTR's, so if you're already looking to swap out the electronics then I would consider building a kit so you only have to "buy once". Consider the TEKNO MT410.
Since you are new, I would recommend starting out with 4S ( 4 cell LiPo)
A decent size motor for the MT410 is a 4274-2200KV motor, where I would recommend HobbyWing which also sells a combo with the ESC (electronic speed control): https://www.hobbywingdirect.com/coll...un-max-8-combo

A super-powerful RC in the hands of a newbie can be dangerous, IMO. Do you really want/need something that is capable of 100km/h+? Probably not.
I started on 2S and have recently progressed to 3S.
Go with 4S for now. Don’t obsess over specs. Buy something reliable with good local availability of spare parts.
First question: Do you want something that is RTR or do you want to build yourself?
