Default Sauce of the pros?

Recently, I've seen a couple pit pictures of some pros (Cav, Evans, etc...) and they have a can of Liquid Wrench Penetrating Oil sitting there. (Though it looks like the spray can...)

I know LW is a popular tire sauce.

Are they using this for sauce, or for some other maintenance?

IF I have to bet they are saucing the tires with it.

This one right?

^^ That's the one.

Wouldn't it be hard to sauce with an aerosol can?

You can either spray it into a brush and brush it onto the tire (the large J-concepts brushes are better than tooth brushes for this), or spray it into an applicator bottle, like an old shock oil bottle and drip it onto the tire, then spread out with a brush.

That works.

Though why not buy this one?

I spray into a bottle. Please note: Works good on new tires. But with continued use, in my experience, it will stretch or expand the rubber. Kind of like loose skin. I'm a bit frugal, so I only used twice on new tires, as I want maximum life out of my tires. If it matters, this was on Dirt Webs, Gold.

Because he probably used up his last bit of his last can of LW, and instead of ordering more off Amazon, he went to a store near his house to buy more. The store had the aerosol can, so that is what he bought.

Is he using it to break loose rusty and corroded hardware? Maybe, but very likely not at the track.

LW is known to soften tires, he is using it as a tire sauce.

You asked what he is doing with the LW.

Is he using it as shock fluid? No.

Is he using it as diff grease? No.

There is this thing called Occam's Razor. Look it up, and think about it next time you have an obvious question.
Thanks for your winsome response. I appreciate the thoughtful insight and constructive post...

I think that's what Cav was using at the Winter Midwest Championship last week.

Cool. I assumed that was the case (hat-tip to our friend...), but wasn't sure if the pros had some other secret use for it.

Heard of that as well. I'm surprised more pros (Cav especially) don't use sticky kicks - considering the OCRC connection/sponsorship, but maybe sticky kicks isn't that good compared to these other options...?

Pro drivers have a lot of experience flying to races. They know not to have certain things in their stuff when they go to the airport. Aerosol cans, bottles of unmarked petrochemicals (LW in an old sauce bottle), ect...

They probably go to the store when they get in town and stock up on stuff just like normal people. Or, they have arrangements made to have local team mates make sure they have stuff like that for them.

When I flew to the CRCRC race, one of the guys from my group had his sponsor ship a pre-production stadium truck kit to our hotel. That truck put his baggage over weight, and we had all sorts of fun because of the musical checked luggage. Long short of it was that my friend and I ended up at the TSA desk over a film canister of baking soda in my stuff, which my friend had checked in his name. After an explanation of what it was and how it was used, they kept the baking soda (only because they asked, and I said "okay"), and let us go.

Travelling to races can be a logistical nightmare, but you'd be surprised how good those guys are at it.
