Default ASSOCIATED FACTORY TEAM LOCKOUT SLIPPER CLUTCH FOR THE DR10

https://www.associatedelectrics.com/factoryteam/parts/details/72026/

I'm curious if this will actually be better than the standard slipper/ direct drive stuff we have now.

The crew over at Team Associated has announced a Factory Team Lockout Slipper Clutch for their popular DR10 drag car. Check out these highlights-

* Fits AE DR10 series vehicles
* Controls the amount of slip created during launch and while at speed
* CNC machined pressure plates and lockout arms
* Fiberglass slipper pads withstand extra forces created by pressure plates
* 4 lockout arms with tapped holes for customize counter weighting
* Different durometer lockout bands to customize delay lockout
* Shorter slipper spring for easier tunability
* 3-pad slipper design
* Includes Octalock spur gear

Looks like a lot of rotating mass on that top shaft.

Yeah, this is an odd one. Another over engineered solution for a problem no one had?

I guess maybe this could be good for a dry tire class, like the new 17.5 class? ...I dont see traction being an issue there, but whatever...

Default Associated lockup clutch

I just installed the new clutch on my dr10 outlaw build. I'm running a drag race concepts chassis with a mmx8s esc and the new 1412 6400kv castle drag motor. In outlaw the cars typically have more available power than they can apply to the race surface. I don't see a little extra rotational mass hurting them any. I have read many times about racers having issues with the slipper on the big end of the track. I want controlled slip for my launch and to hopefully prevent the high torque drag motor from eating spurs but want complete lock further into the run. This new clutch provides the ability to make this happen. It also provides an additional area of tuneability that wasn't previously available. I've ran almost identical clutch systems in my sons dirt bikes with great results. I'm giving it a go for the upcoming season. To learn and grow one must take chances. Many things have become standard equipment in the faces of many that discounted the potential effectiveness of something new. This design is tried and true having provided positive results in other areas of racing for years. Hopefully in the fall this thread will continue with discussion about how this new clutch made the 10th of a second difference at the last big race of the year bringing the win to the racer that was willing to put it to work.

This is the kind of feedback that I was looking for.
