Wraith esc

Wraith esc
So I have a Novak havoc esc and sensored 17.5 turn motor, came with a trade. What are your thoughts for this combo in a wraith? To fast? To little esc. I know I'll probably need a bec.

Not a bad combo imo I was running a tekin rs pro and 17.5 geared 20/87 and really liked it. I installed a 13.5 to try and I think it may be to slow. May have a weak motor. I run a bec but I'm running a jr z9100t servo so I wanted to make sure I could feed it ok and a bec makes a esc happier anyway so why not ?

Yeah just on a tight budget. 4 kids and 4 rides makes upgrades slow. Just waiting for my son to finally realize the slash cannot do what a scx10, wraith, and bomber do! Cannot teach kids that know everything.

don't have one, but figured it will need to be right before or right after stock servo goes out. what about bec brands I think i read somewhere about issues with castle becs and novack esc? or was it just user error?

Don't have the esc or bec ? Hobbyking has a few choices for bec at less than $10 I've ran many and they are fine. If you dont have an esc hit up ebay and search 120a brushless the blue hobbywing knockoffs for 18 to 22 bucks seem to work fine quite a few motors on the cheap also on ebay but will likely come from china. Are you running it as a crawler (sensored) or just a basher (non sensored) ?

no I have the Novak ESC and Motor they came in a trade. I just have never ran a novak or a bec for that matter, by the time I got really into it I had a few kids, had to sell of everything. now they are older and we are getting back into the hobby. Plus I wouldn't mind seeing the wraith go a little faster through the mud, I plan of having 2 setups for it.
