You should have a 60A esc minimum for crawlers. You'll smoke that 25A esc in no time.

I would have to disagree. Ive ran the tekin mini rage with a holmes hobbies revolver and never had a problem. Even on 3s. Lots of guys over esc myself included. All depends on motor choice.

I've drawn over 20A just trailing (HH crawlmaster pro 16T on 4s) I wouldn't take a risk on a 25A esc. You could ask around, most people will recommend a 60A esc at a minimum.

That is interesting. There was lots of guys running castle mini mamba years ago also but only 2s which should pull more amps. I know for awhile I ran the original sidewinder with a holmes puller 7t 3s and it ran warm but never thermaled in a losi comp crawler. It still comes down to motor gearing combo. I guess you can't go wrong with a higher rated esc anyway though.

Gearing will rule the day. However, running a 3 or 4 cell lipo would be a lot more efficient than a 2 cell, which results in less amp draw.

3s didnt used to be all that common now I've been seeing that 4s is taking over. Guess it may be time to try it out. So what motors are you guys running on 4s ?

I run 35A esc's with 17.5 BL on several of my crawlers, no problem. Good torque and wheelspeed, and zero overheating issues. I generally run 2S. I don't understand the 3/4S thing myself... unless you're rock racing, then I could see it. I never have a need for more power.

I've usually went higher kv 2s and geared down if needed. I have tried low kv and 3s with non sensored holmes hobbies revolver. Was ok but the drag brake was never strong enough and no real instant reverse without sensored setup.

Little research sees 12 to 22 amps used with some 21.5 motors. If it was me I would gear conservative and try it. If the wheels bind in the rocks that is probably where it'll let out the magic smoke if its gonna happen. But remember they do handle some amperage spikes ,just depends on how much.
