Default Rock racer motor???

Hello all. I'm building a rock racer. I don't want a super low end motor. I want something with grunt but good top speed. I like the Tekin stuff but have only use there Brushless. What would have a faster top speed a 35T or 55T brushed motor. Thank you, Mike

Why are you thinking of something that slow, and brushed for a rock racer? I honestly don't know about them I would just think that rock racers would want speed. I would think something like an 8.5 brushless geared low.

I have a 7.5 Brushless in my B44 and it's super fast. I would think it would be way to much for a rock racer/rock crawler type of rig. Maybe I should think about a 10.5 or 13.5 brushless setup. I don't know.....

If you want to stay brushed, you might look at a 30t handwound from Holmes hobby or a Brood motor. Handwounds have a little more punch than the others. However you will pay around $55 for one of those. If you want something with punch and crawlability, you might look at a stock axial 27t motor out of an ax10 or scx10. Just my $.02. GL with the build and post up some picks!

Can spend what ever I want. Just don't want to make a mistake. I'm looking to build a tuber rock racer. Want it to have pretty good top speed but also be able to crawl over stuff. Guess it's in the way I drive it. Only interested in Tekin stuff. Use it on my 10th scale buggy and I love it....

I would suggest a 35T motor and then bump up to a 3s lipo back if you can. That should give you the low end you still need to do some climbing but the top speed you need also as a rock racer. Since you do not pull much for amps in that type of rc crawler/racer you could pick up some inexpensive 3s lipos say 1500 - 1800 mah 15 - 25c.

I think you would be very happy with the results on a tight budget.
