Default TC5 LIPO Weights

PROJ3KT GR33N RACING and Manutech have come together to design and build a new LIPO weight for the AE TC5. This weight is machined out of Brass and fits great in the TC5/TC5R/TC5F. This weight comes in at about ~180 grams and fits perfectly in the chassis slots. This weight can accommodate many of the flat bottom LIPOs that are out on the market. We tested it and designed around the SMC4000/5000, Trinity, Orion4800, Promatch, Thunderpower 5000, and Reedy LIPOs.

Here are some of the features:
-Custom machined to fit into a TC5/TC5R/TC5F
-Has a lip on the long sides to prevent the weight from moving side to side
-The weight is independent and does not need to be attached to the battery
-The weight and battery are held in place using strapping tape.
-The weight is not attached to the car so it can be removed very easily.
-The weight is designed to go below the battery for lowest possible affect on cg
-The weight does not extend off the chassis in any way.
-Prevents the weight from shifting and being caught up against the belts.

If you are interested in purchasing these weights go to www.manutech.info

Any questions either PM me or cdee.

Thanks for checking and I think you will find these weights very helpful. I debuted this weight at IIC2008 and got a pretty good response from the people that saw it.

Damn...$45 is a bit pricey...but they look good. Do those work with the orion-3200-style packs only?

It does seem like a lot at first... most of the costs is driven by the raw materials, but making them out of brass allows for a thinner part so that the battery will fit under the upper deck with out any mods. This plate will very likely work with other cars as well, all you need is .100" exsisting clearance.

With this plate you should be real close to balance and min. weight, so you won't need to "strap" or "bolt" on a bunch of strips. This is a very "clean" setup.... cdee

That's cool...looks like the brass one is 1mm or so thinner than the PPD Lipo tray, so the thicker rectangular Lipo packs can fit better Might have to pick one of these up eventually.

the PPD tray is way to thin and made out of stainless. The other part of the PPD solution stickes itself to the side of the battery, making it hard to have two or more batteries.

With all of the thousands of dollars we spend to race this seems like a drop in the bucket, but everyone is different I guess.

Do you run the Orion 3200 Style batteries with this tray?
Also, seeing the lips on the sides of the tray, do those hold the batteries in pretty well?
If so, I might pick one up before the classic.

revolution31... not sure how they will work with the 3200 Orions. The lips do hold the "brick" batteries in pretty nicely. you will still need to tape every thing down or have battery strap thou. Also there is only a lip from side to side, not front to back.... cdee

I am pretty sure that they will fit since we used the standard cell layout, but with the top deck so low it probably won't leave any room for the battery. The TC5 top deck is so high that putting the weight below is possible but other car out there are not accommodating. We can try to fit it, but I am not sure it will work.
