for those of you who are going to donate to the subfloor cause, please bring me your donations as soon as possible. if you want to remain anonymous, have someone else bring it to me and tell me it is from someone else in the club. also please get your keyholder dues and annual membership dues in as soon as possible. if you pay your member ship early, it does not effect the renewal date.

for the guys who wanted retribution from the original carpet purchase, you will be receiving your checks next week.

I'm glad to hear the club voted on a sub floor. I raced at TimeZone II last night in southern Washington and they learned the hard way that a sub-floor over concrete\asphalt is the best way to go. They originally laid there tongue and groove wafer board directly on the asphalt but had issues with an uneven floor, the joints not staying together, and the track surface temp being too cold during the winter.

They basically did what IIC did. 2x4's laid down flat on 2' centers with 7/8" wafer board screwed to the 2x4 mesh. The surface has been down for just over a year now and was just like racing at IIC. They glued carpet to the sub floor but I would recommend carpet taping the joints and stapling to the side of the sub-floor so the carpet can be stretched and replaced as needed. It also makes a neat rumbling sound as the cars drive around especially WTG.

They also used a neat barrier material. Plastic fence rail which bends fairly well for making arced corners. I took some pics of both tracks I raced at this Tuesday and Thursday I'll post for those interested.

I am glad to hear the sub-floor idea was put thru. I for one will definitely be willing to do the key holder option now that the track is going to be national caliber and not a offroad carpet track. Chris is the monthly due going to stay the same at $100? If so I will be needing a key next time I am in town.

ok guys, i am happy to say that we have an agreement with our landlord. we are in for 2 years with a minimal increase in rent of $250 /month for the second year. we were unable to get a lease for 2 years with out the increase in year two. they started out wanting 3000 /month starting as soon as we went into the family dollar, and chris got them down to this. it is their final offer. and we have accepted it. like i said, this is the only way we could get 2 years.

that being said, i am going to order the lumber for the subfloor monday, and it will be there no later than tuesday. i plan on spending the week building the subfloor. i am going to need some help moving the lumber into the unit. i am going to have it dumoed behind the space. i will need some help getting it into the unit, and i will keep you all posted on when it will be there.

i am very excited about this. thank you for giving the club the very best possible track we can have. this track is going to be killer, and you will reap the benefits of having one of the best tracks in the country.

Here's pictures of the Timezone2 carpet track in south Washington owned by Mark Day and Rick St.Cyr. The drivers stand is about 10ft high.

Mario,
How's the sub-floor going to be built?

Are the new track dimensions 96' x 40'? Or was it 48' wide?

It will be different then IIC. They use particle board. We are going to use 3/4 inch tongue and groove OSB. with 1x4's laid flat underneath. Should be ultra fantastic!
