I was lookin at the weekend before but it is the Regina leg of the tri cites or something like that so I didn't want to cut in. I didn't find out about WOW until after. Sorry man but between the tri cities and the motocross races this was my only option.

Apart from a few gas racers (GAF for sure...) there isn't usually a lot of World of Wheels(WOW) runners that would go to the race in Red Deer. The WOW represents one of, if not the, best chances for Calgary R/C racers to showcase the hobby to the general public. The crowds that come through the Round Up center are huge (last year was 210 000+ for the weekend). If only 5% saw R/C racing that's still 10 000+ ppl. It's an opportunity to promote R/C that can not be missed. Every year (since 1987... when it was a dirt race) there has never been a shortage of racers that wanted to show up. An indoor race in Red Deer will attract a few of the potential WOW racers but not enough to impact the WOW... and vice versa... I don't think that there will be an issue with the two races running on the same weekend.
Sure, there will be some (less than a dozen I bet) racers that will forsake the WOW for the Red Deer race but I think that will be outweighed by the racers that can't/won't go to Red Deer (non dirt/ non competitive racers). The fact that you get a ticket (or two) to the WOW show as part of your race fee and the fact that racers and non-hardcore racers like to run at the WOW as a fun (read: not too serious...) event will tend to limit the impact of the two events on each other.
Bottom line.... don't sweat the fact that the two races end up on the same weekend...both will be well attended...you'll just have to decide which one is for you.

Ok BIG ANNOUNCEMENT. The date of this marvelous event has changed to Jan 31/ Feb 1 weekend. This should take care of the Calgary WOW issue and allow everyone to come and hang out. I appologize if it now effects people that had Feb 21/22 planned but hopefully this is for the greater good and we can all benefit from this date change. As far as I know it doesn't conflict with Edmonton Monster Jam either.
If you can so graciously spread the word about the new date we can start gettin ready for the race. I know my car is still packed with Kelowna dirt.
