I was wondering about this Friday's practice also.
Will it be open to all or just for those signed up for Nats?

I can't race the Nats but sure do dig running on Friday nights.

I should mention that it will probably be controlled practice as well.

Hi all, I've been trying to get myself out to OCRC as much as I can, and I noticed that many of tires are worn out so I'm in the market for some new tires.

I noticed that OCRC's homepage has recommended tires, and I was wondering which ones seems the best choice for:

1/10th 2wd SC
1/10th 4wd buggy
1/8th 4wd buggy

It looks like any Jconcepts' "Bar Codes" style treads seems to be popular, but I kinda want to try some AKA tires. However, AKA has very limited selection for 1/10th 4wd buggy front. Seems like the only pattern available that would work for OCRC is the EVO typo. Also, should I be looking for rounded carcass (Proline ION for example) or a flat carcass (Proline Suburb)? I know that the flat ones have better straight traction, but the rounded stuff have better cornering grip?

Will the AKA EVO Typo work well on OCRC's track? Also, are the popular treads available in the on-site hobby store?

Dirtwebs and Typo's seem to be most popular these days.

A "BAR" style tire will work as well, Panther Rattler, JC Barcode, Pro-line suburb, AKA Handlebar.

PL Ions work as well.

Lots of choices. All in respective "Clay" compounds.

They do a good job of stocking the popular tires in the shop.

Thanks Casper. I think with the new layout, I'm gonna try out some AKA Typo on my 1/10th 4wd buggy first. I was there yesterday, and the new layout isn't 1/8th friendly with the shortened straightaway and the tight turns...

Do you guys know how often layouts are changed at OCRC?

They just changed the layout for the Stock Nats this weekend so yeah probably a little tighter layout then what would be typical. They change the layout every ~6 weeks I have seen but it sometimes varies depending on any events that might be coming up.

Ahh, stock nats. That's why the layout was quite technical... It was uber-fun for 1/10th buggies yesterday though! Seems like the track was built just for 1/10th buggies and slower SCs... With the 1/8th scale, I think I was averaging about 30% throttle throughout the lap...

I've used Pro Line IONS here in clay compound and found they worked really well on my Durango 410. Not too much break in time either. I also have a set of Typos I think will work similarly well.

Has anyone tried other compounds besides clay type? I've noticed the Panther clay compound seems quite a bit softer than JC Gold or PL MC compounds….

personally Im loving dirt webs on my stock 2wd, barcodes are a close second.
for my 4wd ions are quicker than barcodes but dont last nearly as long. If I had to purchase new tires for the day my money is going to barcodes or dirtwebs for the value and knowing they'll work.
