Well the MM stage 5 TZ is broken in and went really well at moorebank yesterday with the skyline pipe - sounds great too, really different to the nova pipes most other peeps run. It probably has too much up top because it's still trying to wind out by the time i hit the sweeper.

the only problem I'm having with it is the idle is a bit all over the place. It seems to get ultra lean and revs right up then if i give it a squirt it might settle back to a normal idle or it might do it again... any thoughts? The tune seems pretty good too, it's got heaps of squirt down low, goes hard up top and sits in the right temperature range

Ok irratic idle is usually caused by an air leak , try re bolting the carb in but this time push it hard into the crank case while tightening it.

Also check your pressure lines and pipe seals ... make sure there is no leaks , check tank seal too ..

Glad to hear it went well !

If you cant nut it out bring it round and ill have a gander

I already have a bottle fresh of the production line.

This is a Massive break through, especially for Off Road. So easy to use.

Nice! Will have to pick some up

Took the MM TZ up to the northern beaches and ran at Warriwood today, it's still very tight after 2 litres but it was really firing on their technical layout with great low down grunt and enough power to turn the r40 into a drift car. I was asked numerous times what engine I was running and also had the announcer comment on how zippy it was. I managed to settle the idle down by backing off the idle set screw, but i think an air leak is still present because the carby is completely closed now when it's idling. Next outing will be Tempe on the 10th

dude take the engine out, clean it, tear it down, have a look at the piston sleeve etc condition and wear in process while you are at it, then don;t even bother checking the carby, just take out the carby clean it and seal it with gasket sealand it sounds like it has a air leak, also put a small bead of silicon ont he backplate as well, if you think this may be a area where there is a leak.

oh yeah that probably explains it. I took it out last night and re-tightened the carbie while pressing right down, TBH the nut wasn't really that tight so I'll give it another run before I take the sealant route.

I used it the other day at Livo with a really dirty filter .. it took off all the dirt and left a nice coat of oil on there ... popped the filter back on and kept racing

very convenient
