Permanent track?
#1
Hey guys, are there any tracks in or around Sydney that are always set up and allow for practice? Most that I have been told of seem to be packed up at the end of race day, only to be used as a shed/court during the week.
I'd just like to see if I'm cut out for racing, without having to revert my car back to stock or compete with seasoned drivers.

the moorebank track is a permanent track, with a bigginers day held every 2nd sat of each month, but you might as well come down during a normal race meet day, (how do you think we all learnt before the begginers days started).
www.nswrcrcc.org.au
dates etc on web site
it's a full days racing 3 to 4 heats and a final.
or try mingara (central coast)
the layout is always the same, like moorebank and it is a good track for bigginers and also the more experienced driver, (some good lines can be taken). it's also a full day event. check website for dates;
www.mingararc.org
other than that there isn't anything else unfortunatly. stick to mingarra, moorebank or penrith for the better organised, and more enjoyable nitro race meets.
!
OWW YEAH, there's also the wollongong club meets which are huuuge, but i never go there, (well only once) so i don't know to much about it. they get 60 people+ absoulty stacked race meets, like 7 heats plus sometimes
it's a mix of mingarra and penrith. ideal for begginers.....well any track is really.
www.imcc.org.au
you've also got brookvale..... but, hmm.... a few people have had negative experiences there.... nuff said. brookvales curl curl events were sick though.

If anyone is interested myself and a couple of people have started to meet at Heffron Park, located in the Eastern Burbs... We use coloured freezebies as our markers and design a huge track. I didnt want to invest on proper PVC piping, as I wasn't sure how difficult it is to get people to come and join.
We are always there every Saturdays, except on 2nd Saturdays, due to Moorebank. But it always changes, so yeah. I've always wanted to arrange a mock around racing fr fun, but not sure if people would make the effort to come...

Thanks for all your replies! Great to see you guys wanting to get new people (me!) into the hobby!
nitro dave: the Penrith track sounds good, but alas I am electric, shoulda specified that, and I have work tuesday nights till 8, dammit. I may try to visit some time though.
Venomworldorder: thanks dude, lots of tracks there. Geeze, in the holidays i'm going to have to do a fair bit of driving around to sus them all out! Maybe I can become a nitro convert...
ChrisO: damn nitros
Darkman: Heffron Park sounds far, us westies are afraid of the Eastern suburbs and northern beaches, its like a different country over there
There had been talk of a track at Bass Hill had there not? and the owner of Southern Cross Racing (the hobby shop at bankstown airport) was tossing up ideas of another track around there... any info on those?

if it's electric your after you've still got a good choice, wollongong club, moorebank meets (check www.nswrcrcc.org.au cuz dates always change) or CASTLE HILL. castle hill is the way to go i think if you want good competition.

pushovers??? dats me... hehehehe i am a westy too... heheheh about 10 mins from moorebank. we sometimes go to the Moorebank Sports Complex... on the netball courts...
there will be a new track on bankstown, but the owner needs to be a part of an association... so i think he is asking about the doods at Moorebank... but apparently its spose to be fully services and has an on-road and off-road track...
but the place they want to place it apparently seems a bit too small for a track... but anyway, its been sorta approved so it may take another year before anything happens...

once penrith builds thier permanent track it'll be on for young and old!

it would be nice if councils start building tracks, then you can have like a clubs vs clubs meet... it would be cool... but it may take a while for any other burb to build one...
dont know who it is, but the peeps at Moorebank mentioned his first name, but i forgots now... but yeah apparently his wife has been calling moorebank asking to be part of the association.. so go figure...
but anyway, anyone interested in putting one up in Sydney? somewhere? how does one go about it?

I've considered getting a uni club started, then we could possibly use university facilities and funding for tracks and meets and such...anyone go to Sydney Uni?
We can race on the roof of Fisher Library!
I have to go down to Southern Cross once holidays begin, need to see if there are any more ta03 parts left, so I'll get the goss then.
