Default 2005 Oran Park Kids Race Day

Its coming up to that time of year again. The Charity Challenge will be held at Oran Park Raceway on Sunday 18th of December.
The track will be set up in the paddock area behind the pits & corporate area.
For those unfamilier with the charity challenge, it is a race meet held at Oran Park in conjunction with the Kids Race Day Christmas Party. The day is action packed & is designed to give kids with disabilitys & kids that spend a lot of time in hospital an opertunity to spend a day at the races. There is burnouts, V8 supercars, santa, hotrods, 4wds giving runs around the offroad track, race simulators, R/C racing (of course) & most importantly happy smiling children that unfortunatly dont get the chance to have fun very often.

The format is yet to be finalised, but this is a likely scenario at this stage.
6 Classes on offer
1/10 Nitro open tourers
1/10 Nitro pullstart tourers
Open Nitro offroad (trucks & buggies)
Electric Stock
Electric Mod

2 rounds 5 min qualifiers
10 min B finals
20 min A finals for Tourers
15 min final for off road
2 X 5 Min Finals for EP

Trophys for A Finalists & 1st 2nd 3rd in the B
Entrants Plate for all entrants.

Celebrity Race TBA, last years celebs were Lowndes/Richards (V8s) & Bates (Rally)

R/C vs 1/1 drag race. The 1/8th will be retired after last years beating. This year a 1/4 scale funny car will take on the 1/1 boys.

3 sessions of Kids Drives. This is the highlight of the day. It is hard to imagine the thrill of letting a blind kid try & drive your car around the track as you tell him where to turn. The smiles make it worth every second. Last year we had a few cars for the kids to drive, we would like a few more this year. An old V-One-S or similar is recomended, we dont expect anyone to loan their MTX4 Surprisingly there was very little damage to the loan cars last year.

That should fill the day nicely, for more info on the Kids Race Day visit www.kidsraceday.com.au entry forms & further info will be available at www.pdnracing.org.au very soon. Also keep looking here for updates. Last year we raised $4025.00 for the charitys supported by the event & we want to go better this year. entrys are $25.00. Be a part of this great event, have a blast & help the Kids

Sounds like a brilliant event and for such a worthy cause as well. Pity I am on the other side of the country, otherwise I would be attending.

There is only one track, the offroaders run on the ashphalt as well. I think we would have to put you in with the Nitro offroaders. Unless we could get a heat of EP Offroaders of course. Last year we didnt get any EP cars at all, so it would be good to get some this year. Thanks for the interest.

It is $10.00 to get into Oran Park. The race fee is seperate. Access to all areas of the event are covered by the $10.00. Last year we got lunch provided as well as cold drinks during the day, I cant confirm yet whether that will be the same again for this year. If they get some of the same sponsors as last year come on board it should be included.

No pics of the track for this year, as it wont be set up untill the day. Check out www.kidsraceday.com.au to see pics from the last couple of years.

1/8th & 235mm to be combined at this stage. Classes could be subject to change depending on numbers. Not sure on where the 1/4 scale will get its legs stretched before the event, I am open to suggestions though.

Im jealous, sounds like a fun event for all participating. Ive seen Oran park a few time over here on the SPEED network for Aussie touring cars. Seemed like a nice little raceway. Good event, good cause, and good fun.
We need more events like this over here.

It looks like the ACTMCRC will be sending a contingent along to this. As were an EP only club I'd like to encourgare the Sydney EP R/C racing community to join us in supporting this event.

I assume I can run Foam tyres?

We'll also pack our offroaders for this.. just in case
