yes it is very sad news to hear such a great track is closing down.
i hope to get down to windsor for one last time before going OS for a month. Hope to see other racers there too so that we can put the track into good use for one last time. |

hopefully the shop can find a closer location (with cheap rent) to a population that is receptive to racing. don't give up with the business, but take this as a lesson, a shop out in the sticks, even if it has a kick arse track, in most cases will not work. :o  ......... now a shop near penrith district nitro racing club, open on tuesdays, 'till late...that might work  :sneaky: :D I dont race electric, but I am good friends/family with the Auswide boys. The sad part about Windsor closing is everything the racers wanted they got. They moaned about grip, so they got grip. Transponders, friendlier baricades, track layout, baricades to stop cars crossing lanes, a shop that would endevour to compete with Hong Kong pricing etc etc. The top racers that went there raved about it, the guys I am talking about have raced in Asia & the US & they reckoned the track was one of the best indoor venues in the world. But I guess you can lead a horse to water but you cant make the bastard drink. Sydney electric racers have not supported it for whatever reason that is beyond my comprehension. If we could race Nitro indoors we would fill the thing every week. It will be interesting next year to listen to all of you whinge when the rain starts comming (it must rain again eventually) & ruins some of the major meets. Take a read back through all the threads on major meets in the last 2 years & read the moaning about rain out & so on, the only thread you dont see whinging is the Much More Masters. Wonder why. I know the guys appreciate the support they got from some racers, it is just a shame it wasnt more widespread. Move it to Parramatta or closer to the city, you must be F)&*^$g joking. Who would be stupid enough to trust the racers of Sydney again to outlay that much coin. Lucky they didnt spring for Oztite. Well done Jon, Scott & Steve for having a go, & Jono the the good wife might let you come away racing again now that you wont be playing Toothbrush on a Monday night. |
ay man, my post was honest. it took me around 1.5 hrs to get there from my place the first time and probably 1.2 hrs the second time. it was far away...for me. maybe it was close for others, but i can only comment on how it was for me. yeah, it was out in the sticks FOR ME, i am not speaking for anyone else, i can only speak FOR ME
that's why i never suggested stuff on the windsor forum. i could never race there, so i never suggested on ways to "fix" it. at least i am honest, what do you want me to say? to bullshit and pretend i used to shop there all the time and race there all the time?? :flaming: :o i couldn't support it as a track because it was far away....FOR ME (can only speak for myself) it's a shame it closed for the people that used to race there, and i hope the auswide guys can do it again, if possible and to more success I WISH THEM ALL THE BEST , AND THIS I REALLY MEAN FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY RACER'S HEART. ;)   :tire: i don't bullshit though and kiss people's arse, so if you don't like my comments, like reg reagan says "go and get stuffed!" :D  ps; OX, im pritty sure bush has nothing to do with this one :p ...trust me, i checked the internet :D |

I know what you are saying and you and a handfull of other experienced racers supported the place. I appreciate all the support from those guys who tried hard to make the place work and again I will thnak each of you personally! If my post came across as a shot at you I appologise all I wanted to do was answer your question about weekends and then unload my frustrations about what went on! Again as SOC123 put it so well you could have put it anywhere and raced on any night and there would have some people who want something different all I can say we tryed hard to give racers something good and it didnt work. Cheers P.S. OX everyone knows it was the FBI and not Bush!!!!!!!! :batman: |
im wondering why people say it was too far away its only 25 minutes away from EC
and for me it was 3.5 hours away lol maybe if the days chosen to race are not good for people then why not ask racers when is a good time and day and try and give it another go |
auswide run a retail shop too dont they? Is the track and shop closing or just the track?
|
this is sad news if it closes,
preparation for TCS kept me at CH for the weeks prior, and have been taking a break off racing the past 3 weeks as I am selling my house soon and need to get it ready, I will do my best to come up this Friday, Windsor is a 60min drive for me but still prefferable over EC which also takes 60min, |
at this stage management is looking to still keep a shop open in the windsor/richmond area
if the track on its own was supported it would remain open. the shop on its own is a viable option the increase in rent to have a track thats not supported isnt unfortunately. |

in the weeks leading up to the Much-More "everyone" was at Windsor, in the weeks leading up to TCS, "everyone" was at CH, just a thought, but a good calendar of regular big races will keep the racers at Windsor. |
Bugger,
It's a shame to see Widsor close. Unfortunatly I too could not make it to a race meeting. The Much More Masters came at a bad time for me this year. I really don't know what the situation is like is Sydney, but if the operators of Auswide want to setup indoor racing you could try what we've done here (Canberra). First off find a suitable facility, like evet halls etc at a show ground, contact management and see if they are willing to support an RC club, not for free, but allow you to use the hall, at an affordable rate. Get your self some tempoary track and a mobile drivers stand and start racing. Who cares about the surface? It's the same for everbody!! This is how my club got started, The owner of Canberra Hobby and Models approaced Exhibition Park, struck a deal and the rest is history, over the years we've moved from dusty, slippery, smelly barn to a well lit, heated, carpeted hall. This year EPIC are allowing us to run offroad meetings on the alternate days, for free, for a period of time to determin if there is sufficent intrest in Offroad. I guess what I'm trying to say is, if there is a comercial enterprise like EPIC willing to support RC in the ACT, then surely there must be somone is the Sydney somware who would be willing to do the same for Auswide. BTW: I'm not trying to tell anyone how to suck eggs, just making a suggestion |
Windsor
I think there are too many clubs for Sydney's small amount of racers. If we want another track two clubs should combine. Lets say EC and Windsor??
|
we already have indoor temporary tracks... windsor was an indoor permanant track... unfortunatly probably for this reason, it was taken for granted that it would always be there
