Thank you but I must decline the offer as I have already organised babysitting and promised to take "she-who-must-be-obeyed" out for the night. I have to admit that Dianna nearly fell off her chair suprised at the idea of me spending time with her instead of racing on a friday night. :p |

Thankyou to everyone that turned up to the Hobbystation Drift comp 4. Your involvement in the night is appreciated, and i hope you all had a fun time.
We had 17 drifters registered for racing (same as last month), unluckily Hatim had to withdrawl but we're sure to see him at the next one! 8) We had a number of new faces at the track tonight, and it was great to meet you guys. We hope that you join us again in November... it'l be here before you know it!! It was also great to see some females at the track.... maybe next time we can have a girlfriends/wives division?? sounds good to me!.... we will offer free entry for them, and it will be a tandem drift all at once :eek: Congratulations to our October Drift Champion, Koday who settled the score with Dan, who came in at a close second place. It was very pleasing to see that Ryan placed 3rd. For a guy that is relatively new to drifting, i'm sure you all agree that he did particularly well. Here's some photos from tonight's podium; http://img476.imageshack.us/img476/2...66676bd.th.jpg.http://img476.imageshack.us/img476/5...66636lc.th.jpg.http://img476.imageshack.us/img476/2...66647xx.th.jpg.http://img476.imageshack.us/img476/6...66r12wr.th.jpg.http://img476.imageshack.us/img476/2...66652rg.th.jpg |
In regards to the racing schedule change, in the long term, this is the only time left for racing that doesen't clash with anything else. We've tried our best to seperate it from other race times of other clubs, so that everyone gets a fair go at choices of race times and quantity over weekends that people wish to race.
I'm sure Brendale will be up and running on Fridays again when the track is completed, and after the worlds etc. Wynnum will still alternate between Sundays and Saturday nights over Summer without being affected. I hope the air conditioned pits are somewhat of a drawcard over the hot summer Sundays, for people to come out to the indoor track to race, see you there. :) |
Last month at the Hobbystation Drift Comp 4, we had 18 entrants!. Here's November's Drift comp Details....
BRCMS - Hobbystation Drift Comp 5 - Saturday November 19th 2005. * Turn up at 5pm to start at 6pm SHARP! - Please have all of your batteries charged by 6pm as the format for this drift comp will require you to be on the track, more often! * The championship is open to both electric, and nitro cars - Tyres must be either full PVC or full ABS, & the Motor type is unrestricted - both brushless and brushed are welcome! * $10 to enter - Please bring cash as eftpos will not be available (there is an eftpos machine around the corner at the Shell petrol station) At the November drift comp we'll be introducing two categories; Beginners Drift Class Intermediate-Expert Drift Class We will be introducing a points system for this drift meet, rather than elimination rounds. Round 1 Tandem Drift 2 laps in the one direction - first to the finish line wins. - (Each pair of drivers will be straight up - pair, after pair, after pair so please be ready!) This round caters for all the speed drifters. Whoever wins this round receives 1 point to there name. Round 2 Technical Drift - 1 lap. This round caters for all of the technical drifters. If you complete a lap making only 1 error, then you will win a point to be counted towards your night's point score. If you make 2 or more errors within a lap you will get 0 points. Round 3 Slalom Round - The track will be setup for a course existing of the outside perimiter only of the Hobbystation Track. The 2 straights parallel to the drivers stands will be broken up by a series of 3 barracades causing the driver to drift his car opposite lock down those straights. This round calls for both speed and technical drift - the hardest drift challenge of all. 2 Drifters at a time are to complete 1 lap in under 60 seconds. Each hit is penalised by a 5 second penalty to be added to the total lap time recorded. Round 4 There will be a special round for all of the girls/girlfriends/wives at the track. It is free entry for the girls and we will set aside a 2 lap all in brawl drift race to decide the very first drift Queen There's Music at the track, and if there's enough interest, we do a pizza run for about $5 each on the night - Otherwise, ask Leo to heat up some pies/sausage rolls. Cold soft drink cans are also available for sale from the store. Air conditioned pit areas with electric power outlets are available with tables & chairs and toilets for the information of those who haven't attended before. If you're coming along to watch and are interested in getting involved, have a chat with Leo about sorting out a deal on a package for you! - Leo has some great deals on the HPI Stage D rolling chasis kits at the moment - $250 brand new! The current title holder is Koday - Who's not going to be beaten by a 4 door drifter this time around??? For those that are new to drifting or would like to check it out - please come along! It would be appreciated if you could spread the word, and encourage participants to enter - Thanks and we'll see you there for a fun night!! http://img495.imageshack.us/img495/9878/slowman8ac.jpg |
Congratulations to Koday, he retained his title as the drift champ! we had 17 entrants! here is a video of the night...
I've created a 67 meg video from last night. I don't have any footage of "in comp drifting" due to having to run the event, but i do have lots of the pack drifting, and prior practice. I tried uploading it to rapidshare, but they only accept 50 meg files, so i've downloaded winzip from www.winzip.com and split the file into 2. You will have to download both of these files for it to work. Make sure you extract both files to the same directory, and THEN run the unzipper. For those that are unfamiliar with rapidshare, once you click these 2 links, you have to go to the bottom of the page where it says "FREE". Once you click on FREE, it will refresh the page and it will say somewhere on there that you have to wait around 20 seconds for the file to become available to you. DON'T hit refresh or else you will have to wait ages. just be patient and wait for the link to refresh on the page Here's the links... tell me what you think Enjoy!! http://rapidshare.de/files/7880367/H...drift.zip.html http://rapidshare.de/files/7880371/H...drift.z01.html |
here's an easier link just download the 1 file;

Happy New Year everyone :cool:
The Brisbane Radio Control Motor Sports Club has announced the racing calendar for January at Hobbystation above. As you can see, the Hobbystation Drift comp has been scheduled for Saturday, January 28th from 5pm - (Comp time starts from 6pm to 9.00pm - shop close by 9.30pm or earlier) Hobbystation is happy to provide the venue for the meetup and we encourage rc drifters in Brisbane to join in for some great rc drifting action! :lol: The fee will be $10 for the night. If you arrive at 5pm, you are saving yourself $3.50 :D As always, drinks are available for sale, and there are air conditioned pit rooms with tables and power outlets upstairs. If you'd like to put in an order for something and plan to pick it up on the night, please ring the store and speak to Leo before hand. There is a great range of HPI, Tamiya, X-Ray etc parts at the trackside store. Our first meet of the year is going to be jointly run with the guys at www.brizdrift.com This time round the guys will be judging like true D1GP. Thanks again guys, Hobbystation and the BRCMS look forward to seeing you there!! :nod: Dorifto :nod: |
hey guys
due to uncertainty of when our race nights for on road are going to be, we have cancelled this Friday night. Stay tuned for confirmation of the next race meet, we are making sure we don't clash with any other club. Hopefully this will be sorted out by tomorrow. Cheers guys, Matt P.S For all those off road guys, check out the news in the off road section! |
ok guys, everything is now set in stone, in a fortnights time, we will hold a mini-cup night to bump off the on road racing for 2006, this means it will be held like a normal race meet, however, there will be trophies for the night! Race fee is set at $15, this gets you a trophy for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each class as well as a ticket in the draw for a set of Sorex 36R's mounted on rims with inserts!
So onroad racing will begin on the 3rd of Feb!!!! Don't forget that the Hobbystation invitational is fast approaching, so now would be a good time to get in on the action and get some practice happening! Also, for all those drifters out there, for this month we have moved the drift night to NEXT friday instead of the Saturday. |
| All times are GMT -7. It is currently 07:29 PM. |
