40Mhz fm in 29mhz fm tx/tx

I currently have a 40mhz fm Mars radio (not mars R). I have had it a while and feel the need to upgrade. I like the look and feel of the Futaba 3pk, and like the idea of HRS's high speed response. However, the only 3pk' you can get in Australia without bringing them in yourself are 29mhz FM. My theory is, they are both on the FM band, it's just the frequency that is different. And the frequency is controlled by the crystal, so I can just put 40mhz crystals in it and everything will be fine, as I have read k.o and futaba crystals are compatible. Does anyone know wether this is true or not before I commit, I can afford the tx, but not to replace all my recievers and crystals with 29mhz. Please help me!!

I'm pretty sure that the only way u could use 40mhz xtals would be to change the tx module to 40mhz...

that sounds about right.you'll either have to change your crystals or the module. i think i have heard too that ko/futaba crystals are compatible with each other, but not 100% sure though....

its bad enough that original equipment fails. my mars had a few glitches in a few interclubs, my M8 losing range sometimes and i had to let go of my JR R1 for its annoying problems.
my mars has 27, 29, and 40 modules with 3 different freq for its band , the M8 has 27 and 40 with its own set of crystals. between my 53 running cars,i share 6 different brands of crystals, 7 different kinds of receiver,..KO with JR,JR with tekin, tekin with novak, noval with futaba, futaba with sanwa and so on.....it works but for you its not worth the trouble.

you dont have a TT01, you got a RDX and its worth more than $100. youre not a bad driver as well so dont bother mixing things up no matter what anybody says. it may be compatible but only to a certain point. like mac and pc.. one race youre winning and on the last lap your radio suddenly fails only cos you forgot to charge the transmitter batteries and not cos you mixed things up.

listen to me, i am your FATHER!!!!!!!

futaba and ko xtals do interchange (or at least they did in my mars r and 3pk) but you CAN NOT mix and match bands... tx module band must match the xtal band and the rx must also be on the same band

The KO 29mhz crystals work in both my 3PK and 3PM (both 29mhz) without any probs.

why not ask to borrow somebody's 29mhz radio and see if it works the next time you race?

it is possible for you to retune your reciever,

you basically change the length of a stack of wire inside the bos and it will change the frequncy, strongly don't recommend it but it can be done and is lots cheaper than buying new recievers
