Trinity D3.5 banning
#16
Considering we have just changed over to 13.5 blinky, hopefully some common sense will allow us to use the motors for the rest of the year and then we go again with new motors next year.
Let's face it we are just collateral damage but it's disappointing that ROAR couldn't be upfront with their own racers regarding the status of the D3.5's.

If trinity hadn't tried to cheat by using oversized wire, then all the people with motors that are meant to be banned wouldn't have a problem!

This is not true of the 13.5 D3.5. If there is reliable evidence to the contrary, then we'd like to see it.
Yes, like others, I spent money on new motors believing it to be informed decision. The time-bound nature of the 17.5 approval was well understood. This is not true of the 13.5.

This solves the killshot not being listed but the d3.5 13.5t issue still remains.

The Killshot is legal according to ROAR. Their switch to using the forum for publishing approvals is a bit confusing, but explained in this ROAR forum post:
"Welcome to the new Motor Approval section of the forum. This is intended to replace the motor list that currently resides on the ROAR website. This new section adds to the existing list, a number of new motors are are approved based on their arrival date, as confirmed by shipper tracking data. Over time, the list on ROARRacing.com will be transferred to the forum list, which will eventually be the sole source of motor approval information."

That does make it a little awkward for a race director, but the new format does have good info in it.

It was demonstrated by multiple sources that the 17.5 D3.5 did not meet required specifications.

Roar and the motor supplier have had long enough to approve new motors and review old old ones.....would be good if it was a little more consistent and timely

The BRCA site can be "interesting" to navigate. Try finding their list of approved blinky speedies without using Google

It makes it more than a little awkward for a Race Director and Scrutineers. What you really want to do is just print off a list to be used by the one or two people working on what is usually an overfull table in dusty conditions. It's only a matter of time before ROAR's hodge-podge listing method creates a controversy at one of our meetings.
