rubber tyre setup-help!!!

hey guys,
just wondering if you could help me out here;
i havent raced for about 6 or 7 months and im not a real top gun racer either, im still a student so i cant afford to race alot and i just have the time, however im thinking of entering the winternationals @ fairy meadow for a number of reasons but primarily i love the bigger events.
anyway, i was wondering if someone could help me out with setting up my car for rubber tyres???
i race an original xray T1(yes its ancient i know
) and i have a blue BMI racing chassis(3mm) on the car.
i rarely race on rubber tyres so i really have no clue of where to start at this track. not having been there before also doesnt really help. hopefully i can get some club days in before the winternats if i race but i was wondering if someone could just point me in the right direction with camber,caster,toe-in/out and anti-dive and kickup angles etc.
also, the only springs i have are the serpent ones that were out when this car was (orange,white,yellow,red) plus tamiya super hard (grey colour)
the only times ive used rubber tyres ive had problems feathering and just not handling consitently eg: oversteer one corner-understeer the next- and im not sure where to go
your help would be GREATLY appreciated...thanx
robbie

your best bet is to get a set of tyres identical to the control set used for the winternats;
36R sorex
medium c inserts
sorex dish rims with no mods to rim
there is no point trying to set up a car on shit tyres cuz then when you wack a good set on the car will be totally different. also if you can afford it, try to go down to the actual track and get some practice in. there is no point practicing at a track with a totally different surface, well that's my opinion anyway, some might argue this. there is a race meet at guest park on the 22nd, this sunday!
from here go to a base setup. if you can find the base setup for YOUR style xray, use this, try looking for a high traction, large track setup with either a sunny or cloudy/cold setup.
then try either of these setups, then decide which is best and do small tweaks from here;
this is a good page to find setups.

wd40 and tyre warmers will help of you have them or can borrow it. if no tyre warmers, just use wd40. but before using aditives try the tyres with nothing as the aditives make it initally very slippery and might confuse you even more. ie use additives once it is dialed, and ask a experienced racer how to apply it and then clean the tyre.

Hi,
I race stock in melbourne and i also ran a FK"04", i ran mid roll centre all round, 1 and four piston holes, normal blue springs on the front, light blue on the rear, 2 and 5 droop, 1 degree toe out on the front, 2 degree toe in on the rear, 5 and 5 1/2 ride height.
P.S. u might have to run a little softer springs all round for sorex tires.
Just ask next time if u want a setup, u dont need pictures to look at the car to get an idea wat to run.
Cheers, Steven Puopolo

Rob,
I suggest you go this Sunday to Fairy Meadows as I heard everyone will be attending to get the feel for the new track. Also try to get hold of the control tyres (Sorex 36, C-Med inserts with sorex rims)
See you there.

hey guys,
thanx for your help, much appreciated.
unfortunately i dont think i'll be racing at the winterchamps after all... i guess i had misconceived ideas of the cost for entry.
im NOT knocking the organisers at all... i know the tyres are much less than retail, i just dont think i can afford $125 for one race.
having said that, im still keen to give rubbers a go on this track so i might see you all at one of the club days and once again thanx for your help...rookies like me need it !
thanx guys
