Default Transponders

On the lookout for a new transponder. Which one do we need? The standard RC4 http://www.mylaps.com/index.php/aust...c4_transponder or the Hybrid RC4 http://www.mylaps.com/index.php/aust...id_transponder

remember a pure RC4 transponder will only work with RC4 Decoders,

A RC4 hybrid will work with any decoder,

So you have to ask yourself will i be possibly racing somewhere that doesnt have an RC4 decoder, if so the hybrid is the way to go

Beth.

Hi Ian,

the club has some RC3 (possibly Hybrid) transponders for sale. We will be upgrading our decoder in the comming weeks to RC4 (that will still be compatible with RC3).

Thanks Beth. So an older transponder works with the newer systems, but a newer transponder doesn't work with the older systems - unless you get a Hybrid? So as you say - I shoudl get a Hybrid just in case.

Hey All,

I am looking at purchasing an XRAY T4 Kit in the next month or so and I am wondering what would be a good competition motor and speed controller to put into this beast?

Do you guys have any reccomendations as I have only just gotten back into RC after having nearly a year break due to buying a house recently.

Lastly, Great work on the new Kambah Track and I look forward to joining you all in the not to distant future!

Cheers Ian

Default Free tires.

Free tires.
Before he left for Brisbane, Paul Spencer gave me a pile of tires to distribute to ACTMCRC members. I've finally have time to get them organised and add a few of my own.

There a diverse lot. Sorex, Nosram, MuchMore, Sweep and Take Off covering 27 through to 40 compounds, most though are around 32 and 36 compounds, most are ok though others very definatly have 'death rings'.

I plan to bring them to the next race meeting at Kambah (being rubber I won't bring them to any indoor meetings).

These tires are free.

Hi Ian,

good choice on the Xray. I've been running a Nosram Comet HD ESC in modified for the past few months and am pretty impressed and recommend it. As for motor, depends on the class you planing to run, if your looking at Mod a 5.0 would be my recommendation, again a Nosram Pure2.

Another option would be the Orion ESC's and Reedy motors. I don't have allot of exposure to this gear (I ran an Orion ESC and Reedy in my 12th scale for a while last year) and they are certainly a good quality product.

What do you plan on racing, stock or Mod?

For stock either go with Orion R10 Pro, Orca, Hobbywing speed controllers with the Trinity Duo3.5 17.5. If you wish to run Mod as well as stock go with either the Orion or Hobbywing.

For mod you cant go wrong with the norm - LRP, Nosram, Orion, Reedy, Hobbywing.

Don't worry about that stock motor Rusty. Stick a 4.5 turn in it, gear it at 115 x 28 and race mod.
