At the time these cars were in their element the track building rules required that the cars not be able to get more than 30 cm off the ground. Modern tracks tend to have larger jumps, that's a factor you have to consider when trying to work out what motor to bolt in.

Next weekend we have a meeting coming up on nice cushy grass. No worries about running the cars on that. We put a "Stock Speed" limit on performance.

Here's the current line-up in the Vintage category:

Vintage (9)
Daniel Cotton - Tamiya Madcap
Grahame Garaty - Tamiya Boomerang
Drew Carnell - Tamiya Hornet
Richard Jamieson - Tamiya Hornet/Dirt Thrasher
Mark Lucas (1) - Associated RC10 Gold Pan
Joel Lucas (1) - Kyosho Turbo Ultima
Brad Stafford - Tamiya Manta-Ray
Ian Webber - Tamiya Boomerang
Mark Bramble - Traxxas Rustler

Took the NovaFox out for its maiden run at the park. Since taking the photos, took the brass spacers out of the front shock, to stop that 3-wheel lean. Also made shorter cables to the battery. Runs well - slow, but well.

Cheers

Hey Daniel. Can you put a link to the event thread etc? What's the stock speed limit? I know the race isn't very formal. I might bring the astute or top force up for a run. See if a few of the other sydney boys want to have a run. Just a stud type tyre is best? Calibers?

Thanks

Mikey

Stock speed limit just means don't put anything in the car that will make it go quicker than a 17.5 blinky set-up.

Here is the event thread: http://www.rctech.net/forum/australi...-ep10-ofr.html

You can enter by sending me a PM with your details.

Any stud type tyre will work well. If you wanted the ultimate then a sparse stud pattern like on a Schumacher Mini-spikes, but Pro-Line 8081s, Losi Studs, are pretty good. Tamiya Super Grippers would probably be awesome. Actually anything works ok on grass if you're just in it for fun.
