GET A TEKIN, and you will be competitive for a very long time. Its one of the cheapest brushless speedies you can get, and arguably the best.

cant wait to re-acquaintance myself with another tekin after swaying for abit.

if you cant beat em.....join em:lol:

i think the simple point is, yes u can be consistant, and win races with a slower speedy/motor combo, but what happens when the guy ur racing is as good as you when it comes to consistancy, has the same corner speed as you but has the extra speed on the straights, u are generally then going to get beaten, it happened to me the other week, i could catch and pass a guy in the infield, but if he was close enough behind me out of the hairpin onto the main straight he would be past me by 2/3 down the straight which also coincides with the transponder loop, by the end of the straight, his car would have all up pulled 4-5 car lengths on mine, just from the tekin boost. I dont think theres any argument that tekins software version 203 is the most flexible of all the speedies going round at the moment, allowing you to tune the settings to ur needs taking into account heat, straight length, motor wind etc, im not a tekin fanboy, i was a novak guy then a losi esc runner, but its all in the software now, so i have just fitted a tekin to my 4wd, and will test it on the weekend. As others have said, make your choice, for me, i race against a bunch of talented drivers, many of whom are more talented than i, so i wasnt going to run the risk of them beating me on the straight as well as everywhere else, lol, but if the question is asked which is the best speedy for spec racing right at the moment, the Tekin is the most flexible and best suited speedy/software for spec racing at the moment if you are able to use a pc

yeah I was a sitting duck yesterday at the races.

you cannot compete at this moment in 17.5 without a tekin 203.

fleetmaster 02-14-2010 10:58 PM

Yep,all the more reason for people to run mini. Scale bodies, controlled chassis and motor / esc and limited battery choices.
HELLO CLOSE RACING !!! Spend up once and buy tyres as needed.

dangles 02-14-2010 11:40 PM

fleety but 17.5 is a spec class. the spec esc is a tekin with 203 software u can run another esc as long as its under the tekin. Shit i remember in the brushed days a top of the line esc (novak) was pushing more $$$ than a tekin with hotwire.

These people bitching about it, either man up and race for fun(it is a HOBBY after all), buy a new esc or run a class where the esc doesnt win the race. Besides i reckon half the current top drivers would smash most people with non AT esc, which would let them then whinge that these drivers shouldnt be running a spec class

Flame suit on

There is another class which does not matter too much about the esc.

fleetmaster 02-15-2010 12:21 AM

Do tell Badman, for the folks at home ! ( I know the answer! )

Dangles, with mini , if I get smashed by Bradd, at least I can't use the speedy nor motor as an excuse.
I have no problem being beaten by the best.

After all, it's MY problem that I can't keep up and will force me to improve.
I was around .6 off his lap record. Was pretty pleased.with this, but know I can and will improve.

I WON'T be buying a Tekin for stock. If I get out motored, I can always revert to HACKING, my specialty......

so how many drivers actually have a speedie that is worth more $ than a tekin? i think a lot of the top line controllers are a tad more expensive. the stock class has allways been about the have's vs the have nots. first it was batteries, then it was motors and now it is speedies. it is prob cheaper to sell your lrp or novak or whateva you happen to be running then buy the tekin. how many motors would the fast guys go through to find a hot one, how long truing coms and messing with spring combos and how much on batteries that were either hand grenades from the box or hand grenades for being abused with high charge rates.

it just seems to be a bit of a merry go round. if it's not one thing it's the other

...been like this since they invented 'spec' racing. The only solution I can see is to simply ban the use of the timing adance features (and possibly mandate that motors must be set to 0)..... the only problems with this is it would be unworkable.

I can see it now....
Here are your control tyres, control motor and control ESC.... you just bring the car.

and while your there tell 888 and hrt that they cant get the lastest and better cars so that the others can keep up !!:lol: or maybe tell chad reed that he has to ride a 80's bike so other can keep up !!
its seems thats its always the slower guys that complain about the same thing ! no matter what changes we make its always going to be the same guys winning !!:nod::lol:
