What a gee up! From someone who is entering, $45 is fine for a set of decent tyres. From what I hear the TOP tyres are pretty hot so big ups to Rod for landing premounts at that price. From what I recall muchmore absolutes were similarly priced at the 07 muchmore masters - lets not talk about that sweep rubbish at the 08s, I'd pay double the $35 or $40 (whatever) we were paying for a set of tyres that I wouldn't have to change my whole fkn set up to make work.
I for one cant wait for this event, the largely unknown track is a big plus because it means no-one has an advantage. Let the games begin

Great to hear that you are coming Craig. With Mitch entering on Friday and once the Zarbs verify that will put Mod into two heats - with four weeks out.
Its a bit sad about 540 but I think there will be a late flourish closer to the time. So what happened to the 12th scales? All the drivers talking early about no 12th scale; now we have it, no entry from those drivers???
Keep those entries coming...

Ah here we go again, the stirring has started by those who weren't going to attend, and those who just can't get on with life without a winge.
To start with, I was talking to the biggest supplier of tyres today, and they could not supply enough stock from their warehouse and is in agreement with the current situation.

For all the experts, the suppplier is ask to supply tyres for the event on consignment until the meeting is over and then the club may take weeks or more to finalise payment. This is a big ask of any supplier no mater how big they are, and naturally they are not going to pay for the product up front when they know they will not get a return for over 3 months. .
And there are suppliers that won't even go there because of these reasons. Another issue that comes to light is those who feel that it is fair that one supplier monopolises the market with his product, and get real with the back yarder remarks as well, just about all Aus suppliers to the RC market started somewhere..
The price cap was set for the inttention of keeping the costs down, now do you think that it is going to realistic to keep it at $35 if the AUD is still below $0.70 in 2009?
Do you think the we would we get our value per dollar for tyres supplied at these prices in the future?..

You might be getting carried away with your own self importance Pete, your "title" doesnt give you the right to "suggest" I or anyone else do anything. You made a shit decision at the expense of the race entrants- simple.

This seems a tricky issue with points for and against each camp.
The last sentence in rule 3.8.7 says:
"A host club may apply to AARCMCC for special pricing above the cap if needed."
So I guess technically this decision doesn't breach the rules.
Given that it has been mentioned by two people that one supplier didn't bid because they couldn't supply tyres (and rims) at that price, maybe it is needed.
On the other hand, what was the price of the Australian dollar when the price was set? Someone said it was $0.70, can someone confirm this? It went up pretty quickly too. Have tyres become fundamentally more expensive in the last couple of years?
I agree that the purpose of control tyres shouldn't be for a club to make money, but they shouldn't lose money either. Dealing with control tyres is a hassle for anyone organising a meeting, if you were to lose money on the venture as well...
then again, I agree with others who have said that supplying tyres is good for marketing. If you have tyres left over you try them next time you race at your home club; if they are good you order more.
Hmm, I don't know which way I'd lean.
As an interesting aside, I didn't realise that the control tyres had to be supplied on a "rim [that] must be suitable for all types
of cars." It's a good thing this isn't offroad, where cars don't have standardised hubs. Perhaps a section needs to be written into the rules that says that a TC has to has to accept hex type wheels with a standard offset, in case someone turns up with something odd one day and demands that they get their control rims.

No allusions were made by the club prior to the announcement in early September as to the likelihood of the tender being won by any party,
And I was always under the impression was that there were other parties tendering,
Forecast was provided in July,
Firm Order was placed in early September, the day of the announcement,
Most of your other points are in a similar theme and can be answered by reading and understanding these business principles.

I know you are already familiar with as we have discussed briefly in the past,
so I am still unsure what your full agenda is.

Nobody doubts your intentions Pete. We just had a state title and the cost was $35. He could have ordered tyres by his own admission months ago when the aud was 75c but didnt. You have effectively decided to lift the cap because he was either lazy, sloppy, or waiting to save up the money to buy them.

upside is that the TOP tyres are a single fresh batch straight from Japan,

No, actually between the ACTMCRC and CORMCC we have lots of tracks, including now, Kambah.
So? IT was not offered. It was the ACT's turn. This meeting is a joint effort between the ACTMCRC and CORMCC. Both of these clubs have run State Titles this year, as well as Challenge Cup rounds.
November 16th.
Umm.... yes they have, its $45.
... and Brad, please remove the offencive language from you signature block.

1/12
Hi all.
About the 1/12's and were are they.
Well,
The entry form was not posted until last week..Most people i know that were thinking of going aint because of the short notice..
I have to give at least 6 weeks notice for work..A bit hard when We diint know the dates, venue dates etc...
So as not to waste my time and money..we chose not to go due to the lack of proper organisation..being the nats, the entry form should have been posted ages ago..a bit sloppy in the organisation..
I have competed in many an event..and yes there was entry forms months before the event..
Holding a major event, with the closests hotel at least 1/2 hour away...thats not too good either..As i see it, the event should have gone to a club that has
1. a permanent track.
2. Gave more time to enter.
3. better organisation.
4. better accomadation facilaties.
Before everyone starts bashing me..ITS THE NATS......not a club day....
