The acceleration issues might be coming from the amount of Turbo being used as that is an instant amount of timing applied at full throttle after a set delay.

Personally, I'd leave the gearing the same as indoor to start with, but reduce the motor timing as any motor timing has to come off the ESC timing.

Some ball park settings I would use -
Start RPM - 6000
End RPM - 15000
Boost - 40

... and go from there
The turbo wouldn't have been the issue, I wasn't even getting to full throttle before she was spinning off into the weeds. But reducing it to 10 probably wouldn't hurt. It seemed to be a mid range kick that was the problem.

I had the boost range going from 2,500 to 9,000. I think extending the range to something like 1,500 - 14,000 would give me the initial power that is still a bit lacking, but smooth out the midrange.

Or I could download that new Hobbywing firmware that applies the range automatically - one less thing to worry about!

Your boost range is what is giving you both your low end acceleration issues and the mid range kick (or changing gears as I've heard it called).

2,500 is far to low for a 10.5t and 1,500 will make the car feel even more dead at low speed. You are essentially running a level of boost all the time with that low an RPM and then the ESC is trying to apply a LOT of boost in a very short amount of RPM - basically almost all of it in the bottom 1/2 of the RPM range.

Changing the end to 14,000 should smooth out the throttle feel and get rid of that mid range kick, but I wouldn't go any lower than maybe 3,000-4,000 on the bottom if you are looking to improve low end throttle feel.

I've got the latest HW firmware (at least according to HW) and I can't find anything in there that does the range automatically - its still a couple of drop down boxes for start and end.

Attn Members:

With most of our Race Timing software literate race directors interstate or sick ATM, the out of calendar race meets are canceled.

The track is still obviously available for club members and as there was Friday night someone will be arranged to make sure the track is open.

The club desperately needs more people trained up on the use of the computer as the few that know the system will be rolling back their involvement with the running of club meets this year. Having more race directors is imperative to the future success of the club as with out them race meets will not go ahead! Please message us on FB if you would like to help out

This is also a reminder the AGM is this Saturday the 16th of January at 12pm noon following which we'll commence the All Scale Day and run into the evening.

I'd be lying if I said some of the current committee isn't a little burnt out after last years massive under takings and we could do with all your support by pitching in and taking some of the load off.

Shaps
