Power Problem
#1
Hi all
My car is having a power supply problem
The car will run fine but when i bring it to a complete stop then try to take off again the car wont go. Strange also is that i wiggle all leads with no success, but if i give the car a nudge in the rear end to propell it forward a little the car will take off again. All steering is completely fine at all times. Sometimes on acceleration the car will seem to miss alittle, not sure if this is related. ??????
Running a Tamiya TP-R132JE reciever and a Novak super rooster esc.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Go to your local hobby shop and buy yourself some motor cleaner and a com cleaner. Also check your brushes and see if they have enough meat on them. How old is the motor? When was the last time you changed the brushes?

What type of motor is it? If it is a sealed can (non rebuildable motor) it is very hard to clean the comm & brushes. Motor spray will help, but if the brushes are burnt, the motor is pretty much stuffed.
If it is a rebuildable motor, give it a good clean with motor spray and wipe done the comm and brushes. If the brushes are heavily tarnished, it is time for new brushes.
If you pull the motor apart, there are usually shims and an oil sheild, so just take note of where they go.
Just remember that motors need a chance to cool down in between battery packs as they get very hot. After five minutes of racing, if the motor is very hot to touch (should be able to hold you finger on the motor for a few seconds), it is over geared.
If in doubt, go down to your local hobby shop or from where you purchased it.

Problems with the speedy? I had a silver can and tamiya speedy in my TA04 that would get VERY hot and when the brake was applied, wouldnt go again for about 10 seconds. Swapped out the motor and speedy and it has gone fine ever since. Try another speedy if you have one and see if its has the same symptoms. Even try another motor(even a silver can) with your rooster speedy and see if it has the same trouble.

also make sure that your brush tails are not getting caught up anywhere on the endbell as this also can cause a hung brush,
From what you are describing it sounds like either there is not enough brush material left to allow the brush to run firmly against the comm or something is catching the brush tail and again not allowing the brush to contact.
I have also even seen it happen when the brush hood where the brush goes in is knocked or bent from hitting something which also causes the brush to stick and not move forwards in the hood.

motor is a 9Td Trinity cryptonite. ESC is a Novak Super Rooster - unlimited turns.. I will get some spray and give motor a good clean.
Yes motor does get very hot, too hot to touch after a run. Does this mean I have to change gears somehow.???????????????
Car is a Losi xxx4 G+ running a 92T spur on a 19t pinion......
Thanks for your comments everyone. appreciated

A 9T mod motor is going to require a lot of attention. If you're bashing go with something lower - a 19T perhaps or if you can afford to, go brushless.
