You won't need a new crank, but the new coated crank should slip straight in if you want to upgrade, along with the Gen 5 and 5.5 cranks also. I am running a Gen 5.5 crank in my old Gen 4 7 Port, and it hums along very nicely
id suggets getting the crank and rod, the new rods have a 4.97 mm hole as opposed to the new rods which have a 4.99 mm

cheers mm

I did not know you could get addicted to an engine.

Tell me please Matty, what are the withdrawal symtoms so I can be on the look out if I'm getting addicted ?
After 2 days do you get the sweats, the shakes, or what ?

hehehe LOL.

LOL.

Thanks bud, It's just that Mine never comes out except for when doing maintenance/cleaning the rig etc, so I wanted to know what to look out for if ever I run one of the other GO beasts in my collection.
PS; Gee what a difference in lap times going from the 5T to the 6T !
Was one of only 3 guy's doing 16 lappers in quallifying last weekend, and the other 2 guy's are from the buggy class and usually do quite well in buggy usually and have been drive at least 5 yrs longer than me, so yes I'm VERY HAPPY I'm back up the pointy end again at LRRCC

excellant news mate i agree the mbx6t is almost an unfair advantage mate
i find it hard not to run my mg66 since i have 3 other motors to mate...

this weekend io will be just running buggy the truggy is getting a service and will come again next year for a run

the only thing i dont like about them is there stupid turn buckles i must measure and get some lunsford so i can adjust normally

Well work and 2wd stock offroad has kept me from the nitro havent run it since the flame out where i had the car going through mud. After that run i put a heap after run oil in.

anyway tearing down the motor atm to check all is ok (everything is still covered in after run so im happy so far. What is the best way to get the rod/piston/sleeve out??? As i want to check the piston to make sure there is no scoring on the piston from the flame out (there where suggestions on here that water getting in through the filter could have been the cause).

I have pulled other motors apart, but i really dont want to damage anything in my GO so seeking advice and tips from the GO guru's

Also does anyone have a photo of what a good condition piston should look like?

Thanks guys.

i usually just pull the sleeve out with my fingers if you do have a little touble maybe due to build up you can use a cable tie in the exhaust port to assist the sleeve coming out once it moves all good as for the piston if there no scoring i would say it would be okey i pull mine apart on regular bases while its torn dowm check your bearings if the rear one feels notchy replace them both as it can affect timing and performance

Thanks, it came out really easy. Just wanted to check as my other motors where a real struggle to get the sleeve out. Will post a pic of the piston tomorrow as I'm at work ATM. Not quite sure what I meant to look for. Also the bearings are perfect, smooth as. It's only 2l old after all

lol sorry Matt, i should have used a capital L 2 litres not 2 gallons. like i said i really havent had time to play nitro buggies

anyway gonna take some photos of the piston now. Is it ok to put singer oil (the sewing machine oil) on the parts while the engine is being torn down and cleaned? As it is heaps cheaper than after run. I had to leave the engine in bits over night, so i put a thin layer of the singer oil on the piston/rod etc to protect it from the air and all that. Obviously i will clean it off with fuel before i rebuild.
