Corally shocks

Hi guys
I used the Corally shocks at the Nationals and was the only other Corally car apart from Simon to make the top 10 ,I did have the option of using the TRF shocks ,but what I found when the grip is reasonable there is not much difference ,I was also using the black spring set ,But one thing is for sure I did rebuild them straight away out of the box , Another thing I noticed I seem to use a little more droop than usual with the shocks ,It did seem to settle the car bit ,I hope this helps a few of the guys tossing up whether or not to change to the TRF shocks.

Regards
David

Dave, totally agree with you, in low grip conditions the TRF shocks are better, they provide that little extra grip to get you round the track fast.

A tip with the corally shocks a couple of guys have taken out one of the O-Rings (only use one O-Ring) replace the o-ring with a plastic bushing and this makes them smoother again.

Grip

Hi Simon
Another question for you. What tricks to try when the grip is really down as it was at Littlehampton (19deg) sunday and 27s warmers and treatments arent doing it. I softened the rear and hardened the front took the rear bar off. Do longer camberlinks increase grip if so what part of the corner(running 3.5 bl) ran 3mm droop both ends.
Thanks again Mark Miller

Ok firsty i would try softer springs all round, secondly try laying your shocks over, next try more rear toe in, and yes longer links gives more grip especially in the middle of the corner i use long links all the time. If you download my setup off www.corally.com it will work for most grippy and slippery tracks. Just from that setup go either softer springs or lay the shocks over and the car will be good. I also run roll bars everywhere i found it gave the car more grip and steering. maybe go 4 mm droop in front and 3 in rear.

Me Again

Hi Simon

wondering what lowering or raising the rear diff height does.
AND.....on a tight grippy track would u use a spool or Diff.
Thanks again
Mark M ps(for mod of course)

I think I can answer this one.
Lowering and raising the diff tightens and loosens it I would presume.
On a tight grippy track I would definitly use a one-way hands down, you only use a spool when traction is very very low or on a fast flowing track when braking is needed.

Hi Jamie hows the 008
Shame u didnt get the PHI
Oneways dont work with Mod as the corner entrance point speed is much quicker and braking with basically the rear wheels only makes the car unstable (very) i havent a spool so am trying a tight front diff on sunday. The question with the rear diff height refers to whether a higher,or lower gives more or less grip or stability, due to the angle of the CVD's etc etc.Theres a whole "diff" erent set of rules setting up with a 3.5BL but Im learning.
Cu later my W A mate.

Hey mate,
havent got a car just yet have to see whats going on with school etc.
I run on a very tight medium grip track and nearly everyone runs a one-way it is very fast once you get the feel of it. You dont brake with a one-way you rollllllllllllllllllllllllllllll into corners lol.

Brakes

Most guys in mod use a fair amount of autobrake up to70% in Darryl K's case
up to 19t one ways ok.
Cheers Me
