heh don't I disagree.... prices aside, availability on what you want at aussie lhs's is beyond terrible, it is almost impossible (here anyway). It's extremely rare that you can walk in and walk out with the part you want, without pre-ordering and waiting etc etc. And that's beside cost.... i'm usually beyond tempted (meaning that I actually do, lol) 'patch up' or jimmyrig my car, purely because I can't afford the cost and wait involved with getting a new part. Take for example my fuel tank, it has run this whole year soldered together.... and after much soldering and melting, I think its finally time to get a new one.
The fact remains that a lot of younger (and usually unemployed) people are in (or trying to get into) this hobby, and the cost of kits and parts locally does make it awfully difficult to stay in... especially when most parents aren't willing to foot the bill, which is in all due respect is perfectly understandable.
Personally looking into OS orders for parts I buy in the future too, if parents don't mind. (15 y/o, unemployed, mp7.5 boy... nuff said... kyosho parts are unbearably hard to find locally, and when they come they cost a lot... I usually order from RMS in perth, but still prices are really harsh, only a little better than local)

It sure sucks up here in the Sunshine State.
I hear those southerners have it a little better though.
I couldn't even get a spur gear I wanted the other day despite going to 2 different stores. Nothing special I just wanted a 48DP 65 Tooth (or thereabouts) Spur... Do you think I could get one??
Its a rare occasion that one of my regular suppliers overseas does not have something I want and I can have it in 3 Days after a payment at half the price I can get it for here anyway.......
If the local guys had the range and price that is available outside Australia then maybe they would do a little better.
The local hobby store owners know only too well that they are losing a huge amount of business to overseas Hobby Stores.
I noticed that some hobby stores in my area are putting "distributed in Australia" stickers on their RC gear to distinguish it from an item bought overseas.
How about the people in the Industry look at the reasons why we pay so much for our goods here and do something about it. Someone in the food chain is getting greedy and I figure its the Importers.
Well I'm sorry but things are not going to get any better for the RC Industry in Australia while the price difference is so huge.
Just my 2 cents worth

I hear ya.... u cant get dick all in aus and those are the facts... and if i cant get it local theres no point getting it interstate simply because i can get the stuff cheaper and faster from hk if i have to go outside my area to get stuff!

We should rename this thread, the crying thread about LHS. Or the place I come to moan about my LHS.
Jeez guys get over it, who cares buy your crap overseas.
This thread is about posting places for everyone else to check out O/S. Not for you to come and vent your spleen about how your local doesn't support you.
Haven't you lot got it yet the LHS can't compete, move on.
I'm sure the hobby shops will, they will diversify their products that they carry to stay in business and eventually you lot of moaners will have no choice but to buy EVERTHING you need O/S

O/S Hobby Shops
Hey Craig1, well said, hey guys at the end of the day Craig's right no use bitchen about something we can't do a bloody thing about, to be quite honest neither can the LHS if the impoorters a whacking a sh-t load of markup on products.
Why can't we ALL give it a rest with the LHS bashing and give out the info WE ALL crave for and that's the CHEAPEST places to shop at, be that here in AUS or O/S.
Come on guys lets get our sh-t together and help each other.
