I'd suggest being careful at the moment they are cracking down on imports tax.
Ive heard that they have a computer with a large DB, and a list of all different manufaturers and models, including RC stuff.

Im gonna wait a few months and see how it all pans out.Though it is still cheaper, just factor it into the price of the goods! (about %10)

Default USA Shops

Hi,

When I lived in New York, I used to buy via mail order from Towerhobbies.com.

I was very happy with their service.

Other hobby shops:

Good luck!

This will still only affect orders where the total amount of GST payable will be $50.00 or more. Anything less and it is just not worth the time and effort to do the paperwork.
Keep your orders under $500.00 Australian and you should be OK.

Steevo is spot on....
Like i have put up in prior post's.
They have all the info allready... Known as the customs bible.
Customs has to get up to speed remember they have to work with not only Aust Post but DHL,etc at all ports of entry...Any facillity that import's goods.
If only they could teach the dog's to sniff faster....

Hey Guys,
Just reading all this customs stuff makes me wonder a bit, i was just curious will my product that im about to order from tower (my lhs cant get it in, or i would get it there) Get a custom fee? the product will be around $250.
Also what are peoples experiences with tower? how long has it usually taken to get to you?

Thanks in advance
Adrian

I know a guy who got a second hand Losi XXX-T matt francis of ebay in America and he got stung, $68, and he paid $400 for the kit. I hear wht you are saying about 500+ but the List price and the price you paid for the item could be very different (for example, associated has a large price on the side of the box that is crazy high!)

Another option id to bu two kits, and try and get them both put in one box. That way if u get stung u pay for one car's tax and sell one and make the difference back!

Its still way better than Aus prices with customs tax though.

750 for a losi xxx Kin?
Got to be kidding....

Adrian,

I've used Tower a few times with no problem. As someone said make sure you use air mail... Items should be at your door within 2 weeks (my stuff arrived within a week). Postage was also pretty cheep, the quotes for postage on the website were not all that accurate tho. When i ordered I was quoted US$17 for a few motors, spares and options for my b4 (stock and mod motors v-cheep by the way!!) postage ended up being only US$8... I saved myself heaps on that order without any effort at all....
