Scott,

Tyre wear has been quite high at Keilor with Holeshots, but the club is applying an additive (see previous posts) which is supposed to reduce wear. Hopefully we will have a better idea after this weekends club race.

Ray

PS before anyone says 'why did you choose Holsehots' it simply came down to the fact that they were the only tyre which had guaranteed supplies by the Australian importer....

less tye wear generally means less grip and less rubber being layed on the track.

will this be the case?

honestly though.. is tyre wear a problem?

we will all be throwing a new set of tyres at it almost every run, even when its low wear,

if your not running new rubber your just not going to be in it for the top ten.

as for stock, they dont wear the tyres anyhow.

this is a nationals mind you so we should not care about the tyre wear, just a good grippy track.

and if it gets wet, i bet this addative turns to grease " non educated guess"

the additive should not produce a greasy track. its a natural bonding agent used on roads in the mines and third world countries to lower dust and keep the roads in better shape.

with luck it will stop the surface breaking up and give us a more consistent track.

Josh,

While new tyres every race are an option for people like you and I, not everyone is in that situation. Id quite happily trade off some grip to reduce costs for everyone. Personally, Id also rather not glue up 20 sets of tyres for 1 race meet!!

In any case, as far as I am aware the purpose of the additive is to keep the track more consistent. At the moment, if there is no dust on the track you can run slicks and still be fast, but it gets dusty quite easily. The bonding agent is intended to keep the dust down (as far as I am aware). Keeping the dust off the surface is key, and I am sure the club will be doing everything possible to do that during the nats weekend.

Im sure there will be some feedback after this weekends racing.

Ray

Judging what the surface at Mildura was like for the Nitro Vics, the Dustex seemed to bond the track really well.

Calcium chloride has been used in the past, I believe this is a much better product without the side effects. The Mildura track was like concrete in some sections very high grip. I believe the the track temp was up to 52 degrees C in some places.

Can't wait to try it on Sunday!
