Hyper 8 owners thread

I wanted to open this thread so that we can share some info about the chassis. Some things i'd like comments about is how people have setup their cars and how they have over come problems. I think it is an under-rated chassis. I know it has it's minor problems but so do most chassis. Value for money it is a very good buggy. Going from my Kyosho rtr with v spec to the hyper 8 with v spec i improved my times consideably. About 1/2 a lap every 5 minutes to be exact.
My setup:
Diffs: 5000k front- 5000k middle- 1000k back
Shock: Front- Hard Springs & 40 Weight. Back- Medium Springs & 40 Weight (pistons 1.5mm)
Front Toe: 1 Degree out
Front Camber:1 Degree
Front Caster:
Rear Toe:2 Degree in
Rear Camber:
Positives: Getting good turn in and is stable on the straight.
Negatives: Still taily and having problems jumping. Front end dips down and I have to throttle to bring front end up.
General Chassis Problems:
No clearance over throttle servo on brake and had to redesign a hitech horn to get it to fit.
Rear hubs wear quickly

Try lighter oil in the centre diff, i find 5/6/2 is the best setup ive foudn so far diff wise. 3/3/2, 5/5/2 or 5/6/2 are all good, 7/5/1 was good too but slaughtered the front tyres. Higher than 6 in the centre made the rear end unpredictable powering out of corners, the rear link camber mod helped in this area too and ive heard the new stretch rear arms with the redesigned rear hubs(yes redesigned again, 3rd time lucky i guess) help with rear traction aswell but i havnt tested them yet. Ive tried alot of setups posted at the ofna forums and nitrohouse but none of them seemed to work for me, after months of tweaking and playing around im totally happy with my setup now.
With the front end dropping down issue you have make sure you have no drag brake set i found sometimes after being hard and the brakes then back to neutral the brakes would stay on a bit, i had to play around with springs on the linkages to correct this.

When i had a hyper 8 i did a few things to make it handle better.
Drill all the pistons out to 1.5mm with 45wt in the front and 40 in the rear.I also used some craddock disk brakes with just the metal calipers.helped brake strength and consistency heaps. This made the car a fair bit better.I too think the car is underrated and its very competitive.
cheers

Well i have had my Hyper 8 pro for 8 moths now with a new V Spec new servos and new box but still hasnt even run in yet. I enjoy mt AD2 too much and dont get hacked at all.
Still i read everything on the H8 and wonder what else i need for it as its stock?? Where do you get the option parts from A main i gather. What do i really need ? A one piece engine diff brace as i have been told buy a local racer .
I had a TTR S3 and spent a fortune on it to get it going well . I am not going to do the same... I loved my Hyper 7 and i think the 8 is even better. Thanks...
