Damn straight. I still reckon the Ryper 540' Classic is one of the premier touring car events in W.A. matched field, close racing, and loads of fun!!

so whats a good 540 motor and what are the speeds or lap tims like compared to a 27 turn integy ?

is gearing the same
Tamiya Sport Tuned is the regular for 540. Speed and laptimes is probably around two seconds slower than stock. Gearing is 'roughly' between two to five teeth bigger on your pinion. I'd say for the carpet track you'd want about a 7 final drive... (guessing) I've not run 540 at carpet! There's always someone that can help you out with gearing and setup when your at the track!

If it's so boring I'll lend you a car with no setup and you can come have a go and see how competitive you are straight out of the box.

Hmm.... if time allows I'll probably be in Stock... Gotta get my act together then!

In regards to 540 Sports tuned gearing, around 7-7.5 will be a pretty good starting point.

My apologies James and slide, I didn't realise you were the pinnacle of WA RC car racing. TA05, silver can, mechanical speed controller and stock grooved tyres. I'll just get back into my newbie corner now and take your shit. Stir away........

Ben's good offroad, but all that dirt has numbed his senses and reactions, he no longer realises how good the speed of a modified touring car feels. He doesn't race it anymore more because he knows he'll be back for good
