I really need to get out more......
Knox off-road are starting a bit of a historic class at the moment. Just a few people so far but I could get interested in that for sure.

Cat
Ahh yes, the CAT he had at the worlds, chrome wheels, long wheelbase, hand made carbon fibre prototype, greenish body with a Aussie Flag and a nude bird on it, know it well. The Model Shop bought it and i raced it, not the body but, he didnt want to sell that, I went OK with it, then i got the Optima (I think) and the CAT went to a young kid that had a father who was a Millionaire, he raced it in 2 races, didnt like it and threw it in the dam at Rose Cottage, didnt even turn it off. I should have written a book ...............BOB
PS TONY, i forgot about 1400, i can actually recall 1100, they were the first ones i think in 1978

Tony,
You should have a go , it's a heap of fun. We've only raced them once so far (an Ultima and a JRX-2 so far) but we're going to have RC10 aluminium tub cars , Frogs , Hornets.......like I've said it's only fun and not for prestige or points.....
Cheers

And should we hold a competition to see how many faces have names in this picture? I think it's from the 84 states at snives. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I'll start - I guess Ray Woods!!
Love the colored flags(even though the photo is B&W) on the antenna so the lap counters can score you - And then they gave you a fraction of lap finished because you had to stop your car when the hooter sounded!! Loved it.

yep
Yep, got to be, i found about 10 that i know including myslef and son, and a few others from Canberra as well, found my Optima there too, the bottom right hand is Ian Thorne from Ryde, etc. I can recall at this event i ran the 7 cell class and we did one complete oval first then a little kink for the rest of the race, but some guy threw the piece of wood you see on the left in front of a car as it went down the straight becasue he thought that was the track barrier, a carbon fibre Mugan Bulldog (no original parts, made by RPM of the Northern Beaches) was flat out and smashed it to peices, the car, not the wood.

In that photo I posted, can someone name the car in the front with the white looking body. I was trying to find it's name in my feeble brain but it escapes me.
I can see the optima on the right, then 3 Bulldogs and then the white thing in the front row of cars. Someone put me out of my mysery...

Yeah it could be, I'm trying to remember the year I won the interclub 'B' 4wd race held at St Ives with my CAT (that I bought off Michael Tombs). I guess that would set the timing.
I found that picture in amongst some from the interclub at Forresters Beach in 1985 (I wrote that down but never wrote on the big photo - go figure!!).
The '85 pictures had Gordon Creed working on his hotshot with Tony Stott walking through the background, a bunch of Hirobo Zerda's with their died red roll cages and an action shot of an RC10 (with wingnuts!!). Seeing those cars, they seem to predate the big B&W picture as I can only see one Zerda so maybe '86 is right.
