thanks for clearing that up oldnitro, what does DSM stand for, and when people talk about caps, what does the mean exactly?

mangoman 11-01-2006 10:16 PM

DSM (Digital Spektrum Modulation) seems to be some fancy name Spektrum have given to the frequency used by their controllers.

This is the power capacitor which people are talking about. http://www.spektrumrc.com/Products/D...ProdID=SPM1600

It plugs into a spare socket on the receiver and maintains power over the receiver.

I think the theory is that acceleration can cause glitching because new speedies can draw so much power that the the voltage drops over the receiver and robs the receiver of the power required to turn the servos.

Davo,

There was no real basis behind the comment.......It's like saying Solid state amps are better than Valve amps.

I have seen a few dramas with Spektrum though. It seems more like a parts incompatibility than anything........we did resolve an issue with a power Cap.

Mangoman is the biscuit with his explanation.
Power Caps are cool, I use them in all my cars. It's not a new idea, Novak marked one years ago..............

Will,

We will fix this on Sunday at Knox!

mangoman 11-01-2006 11:29 PM

Ummm is that a good or bad biscuit?

The strange thing is from the original description it seems that willabong was experiencing the problem while the motor was not under any load. It seems strange that there could be a power problem under such circumstances however i have heard of people having problems with QC2s. Fortunately for me i have 2 QC2s and havent had problems running spektrum with either.

Mangoman,

It's an ANZAC biscuit......I'll check this problem out, we have had two racers at Knox with similar problems, I bet it's the servo though.

i use a mars r with a sprectrum module for my 1\8th nitro buggy and jr 8411 servos and dont have any issues. Make sure the transmitter is in ppm Mode as this is what is says in the spectrum manual. otherwise try the cap in the spare channel which is a lot cheaper than new servos!

Aaah, I Had the same problem with My helios and spektrum with a new KO Servo, Also was running the LRP QC2 Shove a cap into the Rx. And you should have no more problems, As I Didnt once i did this. The LRP Qc2 Takes too much drain from the batteries or somthing. There is a thread in the main EP Forum of this site.. ;)
