Default Scalextric

I wanted to know how many of you R/Cers raced scalextric slot cars.
I own about 30 cars and have a big track with 1 18 metre straight. I have come to the point where it seems that no-one is racing but just collecting them. I say to people that they are for racing not collecting but they disaggree. Tell me what you think. Or just post if you have one.

Regards Hicksey

Hi Man
I love my slot cars ,I've got about 15 or so scaletric, scx and fly cars and 2 1/24 parma flex chassie cars. There were about 5 guy's in Melb who were in the scalextric club and fun raced each week end with their own home tracks and would get say 20 people around to race but it has become a closed club and I can't get there any more, due to they had too many people and you couldn't get a race on the nite untill late.A bit sad because a lot of people who have got car's and came to race once and a while got closed out and it became only open to the say first 15 or so who first joined up.
I wanted to get a timber track made up but knowing me I would make it too good with trees and house's,and have a 'rally' track throught it too.The best thing is to collect the plastic track [cheaper too... 2nd hand] and just mount it too a board.
Slot cars are for racing...if you have got a faverite and don't want to wreck it..well buy 2 and race one and store the other !!!!
I got a few afx too that are cool too...but not as good as 1/32
Like to hear back from ya
see ya timmey
now I race electric off road.........

Most of the guys at Hobby Habit have Ninco cars - the crazy guys have put the fastest motors in the cars stripped out the interiors and installed more magnets. They sure do fly!

Hi guy's
Tim ....I'll bring them down on sunday to show you....
Sydney Guy's...There is there Scalextric club in Australia and I think it is bigger in NSW than Vic..so go for a google serch for it....Don't give up if you have got slot car's as they are a good sport and people have been doing them for year's and it's a blast getting 4 mate's around and having a race night!I was surprized when I just got into it how many people where racing them in their own home's and somtime's just 15 min from home.I use to go to 5 tracks in peoples home's and they had mini grand stands, tree's,light's,pit girls, and a rally track that would wind in and out of the main track,it was so cool ......
any body else want to throw their 20 cent's in
Ps. check out www.pattosplace.com for a different kind of slot car stuff !!!
see ya timmey

I just bought another slot car. It is a 1963 corvette grand sport coupe. It is a kit so you have to buy the motor, chassis, braid, wheels etc. When I get it I will post pics. It cost $24

Yeah man !
get some pic's of it....I've allways wanted to get one of those kit one's...where did you get it?.....You can turn a 1/24 scale plastic kit in a real hoon drag car if you spend the time on it and of course have some where to drag it.In Melb there is a guy that has a slot car shop and has got a drag strip set up in it, they race each Fri night!!!

Except that I've spent a lot on my rc off roader....I would like to get some of the scalextric Camaro and Mustang,I've got a 67 corvette by Carrera and a 2005 ford mustang by ...I think auto art and I don't mind some of the scx rally cars the only big brand I don't have is a Ninco....Fly cars look good but cost a lot and need some tuning

I used to play with AFX/Tyco slot cars and have a decent collection - the older (late 70's early 80's) cars are the best, they just started to develop some speed but no traction magnets - the best HO slot car driving experience IMO.

A couple of years ago I bought an SCX track with a Subaru WRX & Mitsubishi EVO, the WRX stalls or shorts the power supply and they didn't fix it under warranty. Plus they both have so much magnetic traction that they are no fun I'm on the look out for more track and older cars, but can't find anything cheap enough - it's not my main hobby and I've only used the track a few times so has to be really cheap

Still good fun, especially when its raining and you can't take out the nitro beast.
