WHICH SERVO????
 

hey there, i just brought the losi lst2. and i found that the servos for steering arnt strong enough/ or quick enough. wont turn the wheel until truck is rolling.
so iam after sum new ones.
and just wondering what ones to get
iam using the standard radio system in it at the moment, but will eventually be going spektrum.

i was thinking of hitech hs-645mg servo's?
anyway your opion would be great thanks

the ace r/c ds 1013 is an awesome servo with lightining fast reaction speed and heaps of torque

Mate forget that shit, you need two futaba s9351(s). One will probably do, with 200oz of torque and a speed of .13 seconds but two would get you more street cred.
645 is slow, I have one. I also have a 9351.

i have owned most brands of servo's including futaba and hi tech.. i am still useing futaba in our electric cars where we need speed but not so much torque.they are an excellent servo. i have had 2 hi techs 945 metal geared and they both lasted 2 race meets so while i'm sure that they are good i personaly can not recomend them.at the moment we are running an ace ds1015 in our gas truggy and buggy..this is in my opinion the best servo on the market at the moment. cambell town hobbies has them and they will ship it to you.

i went looking for the cambeltown hobbies cant find them. i was checking standard servo's ar 85oz. and the hs-945mg is 140oz both at 6v. so that has got to be better. i only really wanna spend about 80 bucks a servo. if i can

even the tower pro servo's on ebay have 115oz at 6v

the ace servo is around $145.. the equivelent in a sanwa is around $200

$80 will get you speed or strength, bot probably not both.

i'm using ace ds1015 servos for steering and throttle in my mtx4 that i from kelletts for around $130 each and am happy with their performance.
with features like:Coreless motor, metal gear, aluminium heatsink, 14.5/201.4 @ 6v torque and 0.108 transit time @ 6v, at that price these servos are hard to beat for value :nod:

The JR 8411 (same as 8425) digital MG servos are a good option for a MT . ATM they are a good price. I think the specs are .13 sec and 12kg at 6v. We are using them in the steering of Truggies and they are excellent.

ps don,t believe all the specs from the manufacturers. I find that Futaba and JR are the most believable..

I forget how long my Hitec lasted before it failed but I was not impressed for the $ I paid. Once it was repaired it hit ebay pretty quick. Been running Ko Propo & Sanwa ever since - ZERO DEATHS and they have done many times the work (though they also did cost more). I have heard the hitec digital range are ok but personally im not going to try them again.

Bummy - spend the $ on a servo that will last! :) Not one that fails in a few months.

Even the best brands can have problems, I use two Futaba S9451 servos in my MT and had one start smoking at a recent meet. It was only a few weeks old an being used for Throttle/Brake duties while the exact same servo has been powering my steering for 6 months flawlessly. I hope Futaba is going to come to the party and replace but it's been a couple of weeks and still haven't heard anything

AUSTNX - In the forums I have read many people say not to use digital for throttle/brake duties. Apparantly the reason is something like when your braking the servo may not be able to fully get in the requested position - the digitals give the motor full current (and burn out) where the analogs don't.

I've ran a PS-2173 (analogue) on throttles for years now (1/8 and 1/10). Only time it ever looked like failing was after racing in the rain - gave her time out to dry and it was fine again. Though for the price (~$160 I think I paid?) they would want to last for years!!!
