Meakin Park - Spec GT Class
Hi All,
New class for the new year! Many people have been interested in our pure spec class (have a read here) but have expressed that they already have a chassis and reluctant to purchase another one in case the class doesn't take off. Taking this into consideration, we've decided to change the rules a bit, with the biggest change being open chassis and open chassis modifications and options.
New rules for the class:
Hardware
Chassis - Open
Batteries - Open
Hobbywing G1 13.5T
Protoform Ford GT 190mm (starting 2019 and only for one season)
Rush 36X pre-glued rubber tyres
Hobbywing XR10 Justock (Read rules below)
Open radio gear
One motor fan up to 40mm allowed
Rules
Chassis:
- Open chassis
- Minimum weight 1350g
Motor:
- Upgrading motor bearings not permitted
- Oiling the bearings permitted
- Motor end bell timing open - but modifying the internal locking tab to adjust past factory maximum is prohibited
- Locked FDR:
***Meakin Park Logan FDR 4.32 by using 48P 75T Spur and 48P 33T Pinion*** Subject to change depending on new track layout in 2019
***Bayside Wynnum FDR 4.45 by using 48P 75T Spur and 48P 32T Pinion***
Battery:
- Charged at 1C max
Bodyshell:
- Protoform Ford GT 190mm with supplied rear wing only. Mounting position for both body and wing is open
- Bodies change every season and we'll take a vote from those running the class to decide which GT shell to use next
Tyres:
- Tyre warmers permitted
- Tyre cleaning and maintenance permitted
- Traction compound permitted
ESC:
- Hobbywing XR10 Justock but will allow open ESC in blinky mode for the first time you race this class.
- Aftermarket capacitors prohibited
Thanks for reading and hope you will join us

Updated the initial thread a little to clarify the rules a bit more.
ESC - We want everyone running to use the Hobbywing XR10 Justock, but will allow open ESC in blinky mode for the first time you race in this class. Hopefully, you'll know if you enjoy this class or not and can then decide on the extra expense.
Bodyshell - Forgot to mention that bodyshells get changed every season and for the first 2019 season, it's going to be the Protoform Ford GT 190mm.
