Servo for RC12L3

I am trying to find a servo which is compatible with the RC12L3 kit. I came across the HS-81MG. Would there be any other servo better than the 81? I wuld not want to bore any extra hole in the chassis to accommodate a larger servo. The space provided between the shock towers is a little less than 1.4". Thanks for any suggestions!

The HS-81MG is not recommended for that application. I use the HS-5245MG digital in mine. http://www.hitecrcd.com/Servos/hs5245.htm

How about the 5125MG for 1/12th on road applications?
It's torque falls between the 5245 and the 81MG, and it seems like it's thin, low profile would help lower the CG of a 1/12th scale car. The mounting would be convenient too for mounting to the chassis of a 1/12th car.
Centering is important for 1/12th's, how do the different servos compare in terms of centering?

I don't think the 5125 would be a good choice either. Not to mention the output shaft is different so you wouldn't be able to find a servo saver for it.
I use the 5245MG but will try the Multiplex micro speed digi and see how it compares.

I am curious as to why you say the 81mg is not suited for 12th scale racing? Generally the most popular/recommended servo on the 12th scale thread is the Airtronics 94145Z (mainly because of its quick 0.09 transit speed at 4.8v). This particular servo only has 26oz of torque at 4.8v. With the Hitec 81 having 36oz/0.11s at 4.8v AND being 0.58 ounces in weight (the airtronics is 1.09oz!) I can't help but think this is would be an excellent servo? (also its about $30 cheaper than the airtronics!)

The 81 is not appropriate because of the size. The gears are very small and will not hold up. The 5245 and the MPX micro speed are about the same size as the 145.
BTW our tests have shown that the Airtronics specs are about .03 faster than they actually are. Our .11 servo is actually faster than a .09 from Air't.

Plan A was fit the CRC servo mounts to the L3...but there's no material where needed on the chassis to drill new holes. Plan B was to buy a new JR servo that fits the stock mounts properly...wife says, but you just bought a servo ?
Plan C...make my own mounts and keep the dough the wife thinks got spent on a new servo stashed

Ok, here is a question.
Currently in my corally sp12 im trying a HS-225MG with a LRP
Quantum and a KO Mars R & running all the electrics with 4 and also trying 6 cells as well as a seperate battery pack to see if that was the problem.
The problem that i have with the servo, is that when rapidly
changing directions rapidly the servo bounces violently when you
reach the end point at that particular end.
I've also tryed changing speed controler and a different reciever
and tryed it with the whole lot removed from the car and also replaced the servo thinking that had to be it.
The only thing i can come to is that 'possiblly' the radio (mars r)
is simply to fast for the servo, But i may be wrong again. My LHS are also confused on what the problem may be as well.
Please Help.
