Default digital hitec question ?

Hi there i run a savage x ss with flm extended chasis as a m/t racer i have had some trouble with servos, i run a 5955 on my steering and have had 3 servos die,the gears are all ok on each just the elec fry, i run a 5645 on the throtle / brake and have had 3 fry also same problem, i have a 5 cell aa 2600 battery pack and a dx3r controller with 3100 reciever, i have checked each item on other trucks and no problem and have had the end points set so as the servos are not buzzing or loading up ( 65% on the steering & 50 % brake & 75% on the throtle.

Some one suggested it could be the way i clean my truck i spray it with simple green then blow it of with air, could it be that the cleaner is getting into the servos around the cords and frying the elecs in the servos.

Ive given upon the hitec digitals at the minute as it has cost me heaps in a 10 week period so i have gone to 645mg servos on both now

There are only a few things that cause a servo to burn out. Barring a defect in a component, the only things that will fry it are water or other liquids getting on to the electronics and corroding them, stalling the servo, or applying too much voltage to the servo. Digitals are very sensitive to setup and they need careful attention. An extended load applied to the servo will cause the circuit to heat up and eventually let the magic smoke out of it. This is the #1 failure mode we see with digitals and certain setups like rock crawlers are prone to it. The other thing to watch out for is to not forget to turn off the power to the car. If the power to the car is still on but your transmitter is off, the receiver can pick up stray signals in the air and drive the servos hard over causing them to stall, over heat and burn out. You may just want to just triple check your setup to make sure it is copasetic.

Default found the fault i think

i cleaned one of the servos up around the elecs inside and dryed it out in front of a heater and presto it came back to life no flickering so i guess sealing them up before using them is a great idea, thanks and i have bought more digitals as the 645mg are a bit slower on the savage for racing.
