Rant about Hitec HS-5645MG
Bought it on Wednesday together with HS-5625MG for my Hyper 8.
The 5625 is okay but the 5645 was broken last night when I test it.
I simply put it on my buggy and the horn wouldn't center and it could only turn to one way. I brought it to the shop just now and they said the gear is broken. I didn't even use it but they accused me of "abusing it". What a lame service and quality.

So you have a new servo never used but somehow the gear is broken? That just does not add up. Obviously the servo was used and either setup incorrectly or the vehicle hit something. Metal gears just don't strip on their own. In any event you do have a 2 year warranty and on this servo (MP or MK gear train servos) we do warranty the gears against breaking. What you need to do is send it to service with a copy of your receipt for warranty coverage.
And as Tres pointed out the 56xx series servo is on the bottom end of what would be recomended for an 1/8 scale vehicle. 1/8th scale is very brutal on servos so a high quality servo like our titanium geared servos from the get go will keep you running much longer before having to rebuild/replace your servos.
And you are using one of the horns that came with the servo or one made for a Hitec servo correct? Every servo manufacturer has a different spline count so they are not interchangable.

Sorry, I take my rant back
Sorry, I think just now I know what caused it. It's probably due to wrong screw. I mistakenly put a similar screw set to attach the horn, however it is longer than the original one (same color, same diameter, only longer). So probably since it was penetrating too deep into the servo, it may had touched some fragile things inside the servo.
So, I take my rant back. Once again sorry.

If the screw is too long it can hit the top of the potentiometer, pushing the shaft down into the ceramic disk inside and bend the metal housing causing strange behavior in the servo.

Can it be fixed?

Yes, we can replace the potentiometer in the servo.

Ok, will send it for repair.
And just a suggestion, maybe the R&D can find a way to prevent same thing happens again in the future by putting a kind of barrier so the screw tip will not touch anything inside.
