I have a 450 Trex and of course crash a lot
I finally cracked the top case of a hs-65mg. The replacement case from hitec PN#55418 came with a different top than the one that broke and doesn't fit by just using the new top. The new top has a post inside to hold the little reduction gear in place. It has no hole in the post it like the top I am replacing. Do I need to change the whole case or is this a problem?

i wonder if it was updated. b/c info says m1.7, a M2 screw and tap both thread in loosely. i finally had to tap it to M2.5 to get a screw that worked w/a servo saver. works great, but boy a lotta work. perhaps there is an update and the screw is now a M2.3 (that size is annoyin too) like the larger servos despite its smaller overall gear size. that inturn maybe behind your case issue
