Default Repair Question

A 14 year old kid at our track bought a Lynx 3D about 6 months ago. He saved for almost a year to buy the radio and was still a little short, so a couple of us "pitched in" the rest of the money so this kid could get a decent radio. He's a good kid, very interested in RC, but from a VERY poor family. A few of us have chipped in different things (tires, batts, etc) to get & keep him going. Anyway, today someone knocked the radio off his pit table while he wasn't around (no witnesses either). It broke the case around the steering wheel, and did something to the steering mechanism. The wheel will not return to center, and will not transmit to the car to turn right.

I know you can't tell me exactly what's wrong with it, or the cost of repair, but can you tell me if it's even worth sending in to look at. Myself and another guy will probably foot the repair bill because there is no way the kid can (and he's crushed about his radio), and we don't know if it's worth repairing or trying to find another, cheap radio for him.

Thanks guys!!!!!

FYI: I know how he feels.
I learned this the hard way also a long time ago....
I always lay may radio on it's back and away from the edge of the table now.

You guys have anyone in Australia? I have been waiting over 4 months for replacement of my Ultra Tourqe servo that was turning one way faster then the other and also would fail to move sometimes. The servo was around 4 months old when it failed.
