Yes, HT still races. Wednesday and saturday. Racing starts at 6pm (maybe 7pm) and the track normally opens a couple hours before that. There was rumor on FB about another track opening, but no confirmation yet.

Welcome Rocco!
Yes Hobbytown is the only track we have left. Both off road and dirt oval tracks on site. Racing on Wednesday nights at 7pm and Saturdays 6pm, open practice for a couple hours before racing.
Typical classes run: novice, 17.5 buggy, 17.5 SC, 4x4SC, 4x4 buggy, mod buggy, 1/8 gas/electric.
A few posts ago there are a couple videos uploaded of the current layout.
also they have a facebook page for hobbytown tucson.

Sweet. Thanks for the welcoming info. What's the biggest expert class, and tire recommendations? Any big events scheduled for this summer?

I am not aware of any "big" races in Tucson this summer. But.. There is one in Phoenix in July at W3. Many locals will be heading up for that. Also, the "new" indoor SRS will be opening soon. I am sure there grand opening race will have a big turnout. Also, I am not aware of any tracks having "expert" classes. Mod 2wd buggy in Tucson has some quick guys, but so does 17.5. Mod probably has the most quick guys though. Sometimes the faster 17.5 guys will toss their cars into the mod class to run with a faster group. Buggy by fast has the best turn outs overall. Well, novices doers also, but i am sure you dont want that. 4wd buggy has been getting turnouts also.

17.5 buggy is usually the biggest class also 4x4 SC. I see a nice 22-4 in your pic...a welcome addition to our growing 4xbuggy class!
For tires, suburbs have been the hot setup. I like square fuzzies. Holeshots are also a good all around choice.

You know what would be nice since we only have one track in Tucson is if they would run another race night. How many people would be interested in running lets say a Friday or Sunday race. I know its a long shot but I think if we all showed enough interest Travis and company would maybe do it. Not sure what you guys all think about this.

I'd be down for some Friday night racing...Usually can't make it out Saturday so another race day would be sweet.
