I think Brian said its going to be AMB this year....so you will need an AMB transponder or one that will work with it.

It's the only wheel I've ever snapped that way. Most nylon rims tweak a bit after a good whack but race on even if they are a bit wobbly. The spokes on the Dynamite rims cracked through and made the set unusable before the tread was worn. I know, I shouldn't be hitting those boards. Still, I hope the durability has improved.
That's why we're testing them

For the USGT class, try keeping it simple...run any treaded tire.

This is club racing and I bet most racers have a set of treaded tires laying in the bottom of their pit boxes.

Racing, in general, is expensive enough, without the added costs of SPEC tires. If you can find some cheap tires that you like, great...let others know how they can get some.

When I look at all the different sets of tires I have for 17.5 shortcourse, and the tires I have for VTA, I'd say a spec tire is a much, much better way to go if you want to save money. Sure, you have to buy a new set of tires, but you dont need two or three sets and then to test and tune to see which of the two or three is best at one track, and then again at another track. A single spec tires is by far the better way to go.

Default Spec Tire...

At the VTA Nats. a lot of racers used the 26mm VTA tires in the USGT class.

Why not make these the Spec tire? Most said there was no problems or need to make major changes to their set-ups.

Just a suggestion...

What we are basically shooting for is to get a tire that is low cost and that also is not bad on tire wear.

Trans Am fronts don't look right on a gt style car. The low profile is more appropriate. I know guys ran them, and that's cool, but I think there is a bigger number who want the low profile look.

Personally, I don't have a problem with any non belted tread tire, but guys have been asking for a spec tire.

Bought a set of Dynamite and a set of HPI's (D compound). I like the idea of a full set of mounted tires for $15.00 but also like the fact that I can use any wheel combo to suit my shell if I mounted the HPI's. Part of the ship part of the crew. Whatever the powers that be deem to be the best tire....I'm in.

WOW - Fifteen bucks... I like that price. Maybe we should consider making this the spec tire for ALL classes!

Is it May 1st yet?? This wait is killing me. I'll take all this rainy weather now if it means sunny skies and 70 degrees in May!

Default Asphalt Assault 2011

Hello racers,

Thank you all for your patience while I confirmed all of the race date's. This years series will be formatted slightly different.

Instead of giving out trophies/prizes @ each event,we will be giving out awards for the top 10 finisher's for each points class at the Final Race @ Leisure Hours Raceway.

Also, in lieu of the prizes that we will receive from the series sponsors, each host track will be giving back $5 dollars per an entry to the series which will be used to purchase product to be given away at the end of the series and pay for the awards. All racers will be given a raffle ticket for prizes instead of awarding mostly class winners.

Sponsors: We are happy to announce that Speed Passion will be title sponsor again this year! I'm still working on other sponsors and will post as soon as I line them up.

Spec Tire for USGT/17.5 T.C. will be announced shortly!

Everything is looking good right now, so if it doesn't burn up on asphalt, it may be the USGT spec tire.
UPDATE:
The specific tire I have has been discontinued. Bummer. They offer 2 other treaded tires, but I don't know if they are Ride tires or not. I guess the Ride tire doubled in price, so I assume the other tires are not Ride, which is a quality manufacturer. Back to the drawing board.
