Dear Racers,

On our track in the Netherlands we are looking for a additive we could use to give our track some more traction. At this moment we are using tyre additive for the electric section, but the nitro section lacks in traction since we don`t allow tyre additive. (and not going to)

Is there a way (track additive) to give the track a little bit more traction in certain corners? We already looked at the Tornado Track Max, but this is not being sold anymore..

Are there racers that can give us some tips how to proceed, or maybe some additive we could make or buy?

In the USA a lot of the track are based on parking lots etc. how do you guys handle the traction problem over there.

Try Grape soda an sugarwater mix in 5gallon bucket thats how we do in here in Florida from time to time.

We use sugar water with 1 to 1 ratio 1 gal water to 1 lb sugar works good and cheap.

we buy the cheapest pop we can find, load it into our sprayers, add some water with dissolved sugar, good to go!

at the "FORT" home of the FLORIDA WINTERNATS we use 40 pounds of sugar mixed with 15 gallons of water then add 6 two liter of grape or oranges soda.
Once time a year we mix all our old fuel with four gallons of castor oil and spray it on the track.
Traction will be off the hook !!
also cuts down on tire wear

Don't forget to spray board to board or grass to grass... the entire track. We all go wide sometimes.

Is it necessary to spray the entire track, or only in the corners, over the whole width of the track indeed.

What happens when it rains or with only light drizzle. Does the track dry up easily or will it be slippery for the rest of the day even when it stopt raining in the morning for example.

light drizzle or sprinkel, generally will dry depending on other factors like sun or no sun will take alittle longer but the traction will come back up it will tolerate some moisture with foam tires but any rubber tire gt8 types it will be a skating rink till it is dry

Thanks a lot for the response so far, we should try the suger water combo for sure. What would be a good way to apply it, do we need to do it in multiple session before an event? What kind of strategy would work best.

Does the layer build up in time.

Are there a lot of insects coming to the sticky suger, or is that no problem.

Traction will build up with acouple of lite coats. you don't really need anything fancy, just shake a 2L pop/soda bottle, and use your body reamer to punch a hole in the top. It will spray just fine.

We use alittle more complex system with pop syrup, and a compressor tank. Similar to a commercial weed sprayer.

Once you have good traction, don't keep spraying it. We have had it were to much pop will become slimmy in the heat, or if it starts to rain.

Wasps and bee's can be a problem towards the end of summer.

it seems to have more drawbacks than merrits in a climate where it rains often like the climate we are in.

Did the traction all of a sudden go down? because the last time I drove there traction was good and the nitro's didn't have any problems either. In fact now the nitro's are driving again the traction went up considerably?

I was told that sugar water does have a negative effect on rubber (electric) tires.

Hi

The best solution is Sugar 1 Pound of Sugar to 1 Gallon of HOT HOT Water
If you use cold water the sugar just blows away when the track dry's.
The Sugar really just glues the dirt down and then you run the cars on the track and the traction improves as more cars run and you build up the Castor Oil from the Fuel on the racing line. o Not use more than the 1 to 1 ratio because its like racing on a glazed donut.
Soda Pop was good back in the day when it had real sugar in it !!!
It now has High Fructose Corn Syrup in it and it is not sticky.
Its like spraying water on the track.

As for the bees and other bugs its not a problem. In the Fall the bee's are problem sugar or no sugar !!

If you can't get hot water at the track, make a solution at home boil 1 gallon of water and put 5 pounds of sugar in it. Once at the track you can add 4 gallons of cold to it and its like using all hot water.

The trick is the Hot Water !!!!! And spray the whole track !
