Ha. You guys are running stock or 21.5 and are afraid of sticking the servo half a centimeter further out?

And why would you use that when you can get an Xray servo mount that doesn't have any of those problems?

I just wonder what the point is? The Tb evo mount is more likely to tweak than the kit one as its made from separate parts, the std TRF418 one is very tough, and its also more inline with the chassis, so its a win win situation.

FWIW, The TB06 has a shaft in the centerline of the chassis, therefore the servo is mounted further out of centerline. On the TRF418 it will be mounted at chassis centerline like stock one.

The evo mount fits under the shaft (along the centreline, and then the mount for the servo is alongside (like an inverse L) so fitting it to the centre of the car will just offset it by the amount of the part under the shaft (approx 9mm) moving the servo 9mm further out than the std kit one.

Anyone racing on carpet?

Share any tips or tricks. I'd think sharing items like how changing the roll center on the 418 would feel? Items we test in how the car reacts to certain changes.

I think the Smokem chassis in stock is too flexible for blinky (inconsistent handling). Best to stick with stock chassis or the Samix aluminum chassis. I just started racing the 418 on carpet and I have a big learning curve on how to setup that car versus my old BD7. So give me a month or two! hehe You could start with Marc R's first setup on PetitRC or Sean Williams. I started with Marc's.

Here are my findings after successfully running the TRF418 on carpet every week for over 6 months

The track is quite tight, I do find a stiffer car is always a faster car on carpet. There is a base set-up there. I found the crazy 7mm shim ones just made a car that was really lazy but easy to drive.

I have bent one steering turnbuckle before and replaced it with titanium.

the steering linkages are more prone to breaking, than the camber links. I replaced them almost immediately with the metal or Ti turnbuckles when i got mine.
