Sounds like the spool would be a good idea, ive used a tighter set diff with fairly good sucess, just dont overtighten it or you could snap an outdrive.
Im in the uk, so im not really sure about places in the usa
I use rc mart sometimes and I hear precision rc is good too if your looking for an online shop instead

Normally, they are run at the same tightness for a more neutral feeling, although it is better to do this, you can make them a different tightness to get more front or rear bias.

I used to tighten the front one up a little more than the front (to get a small spool effect which I needed but didnt have a spool) but if you need a spool it is best to get one and get the full benefit of it, rather than ruin a diff by letting it deliberately go gritty and possibly snap an outdrive in the process...
