The TC4 RTR is still in production which means that spare parts and hop ups are still in production. It will be around for some time due to its continuing popularity as a low cost competitive racer.

The TC4 is a relatively durable car. If you over-tighten the steering rack/servo saver, you can break it, so it is good to have a spare rack (fairly cheap).
I'm currently racing a FT TC4 in VTA (25.5) and a tub TC4 in USGT (21.5) and am able to make the a-main against decent competition with both cars. I rarely break any parts and tend to hug the barriers. I have occassionally broken an a-arm or steering knuckle, so keeping a limited number of spare parts is advisable (for racing any car).
The only parts that can be difficult to find are the blue aluminum rear 2.5 toe in arm mounts. However, I think they can still be purchased directly from Team Associated's web store. In fact, they still have plenty of parts for the electric TC3 online. Here is a link to Team Associated's webstore if you are looking for parts (http://order.aeteam.net/).
Hope this info helps.

The tc4 will outlast the tc5, tc6, tc6.1 , etc... It's just the RTR world growing demand for simplicity that makes it attractive...
